so the tip on my muffler needs to be the same diameter as the pipe going into the engine?
what about these power pipes, they have a huge exit hole for the exhaust.
im just worried i cut too big of a hole at the end of my muffler |
depends on what type of performance pipe you are using , some are designed for motors that fall into a displacement range or multi cylinder motor. Experiment with different size outlets. generally something around an 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 is a good compromise between performance and noise. It does seem to make a difference. Team 9/13 and I were running top speed for a while down a road when my motor power fell off slightly. it seems the outlet tip of the muffler fell off. Replaced it when we got home and top end returned. we thought it was an interesting phenomenon. _________________ 3206 yerf. too many mods to list. easier to list what has not been modified- seats and steering wheel. plus one set of kidinme's hand made special collectors edition fuzzy dice. doing a few more mods to my buggy before the bash. I have a twister 150 mods listed below. I had a 122 jet in and changed it to a 127.5 because I opened my exaust more. I opened the canister and completely removed the baffle close to the end of the pipe. I also added 1500 springs to the stock clutch. I now feel that I have lost some very noticable low end power. I am thinking of adding the baffle plate back in the pipe to see if the power comes back. Spark plug looks good after the re-jet. ARRRRGHHHH. Feel like I went backwards with the mod. exaust sound is not any louder with this baffle removed either. Any suggestions before I hammer the baffle plate back out flat and weld it back in? _________________ 2006 Twister 150

by taking the baffle out you did almost nothing. drill a hole in the end of your muffler about as big as your pinky to let a little more exhaust out. and you have to have free flowing intake i have a 3 inch snorkle on mine with a k&n airfilter and mine made alot of noticable low end torque when it came to climbing and spinning the tires _________________ 150cc kinroad gy6, 9 gram rollers, k&n airfilter, gutted exhaust, 30mm carb, racing coil, racing cdi, bigger battery, gates belt, 2,000lb winch, redneck force fed cvt intake

If taking out the baffle did almost nothing, Then do you think the increase in jet made the power loss? I'm not so sure drilling a hole in my muffler will make up the loss. I'll keep tinkering...and I'll get more out of it. _________________ 2006 Twister 150
