I got a set of sliders and a torque spring from Glade at edgepwr for my joyner 250. There is a wealth of info on here about how to install them. So far everything has been pretty straight forward. On the Joyner there is a lot of room so no tire removal is needed. I did have to buy an impact wrench to get the variator and clutch cover nuts off.
But now I cannot get the main clutch nut off. I have seen a few methods described on buggynews, but neither are working for me.
I am afraid of bending the pulley guides with my vice or c clamps. And I have tried using my craftsment rubber pulley clamp to hold it while I turn the nut with my 24inch crescent wrench.
If anyone has any ideas about how to do this, I would appreciate it. I dont like jobs that require me to buy a bunch of single use tools just to use one time.
Anyone planning on this upgrade needs to figure some special tools into their budget if they dont already have them.
I use an impact and a 1 5/8 socket, they generally come right of.
I put the clutch on the floor and put both feet on it, then use the impact. then place both hands on it and slowly move each foot off and gently release the pressure. _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's Atv's, parts and repairs. accessories for all makes.

Spend the $15 for the right impact socket and do it the way BIGE just described. I can't remember the exact socket size, it's big and it's metric, but I got a knock off brand from a local "big boys toys" type tool place. BIGEs method is soooooo easy. _________________ Ron

dang it so ive been doing it the hard way each time. i take mine to work and use severl items like steel top work bench, a few c-clamps with rubber tips, improper size BF wrench thats close to the right size.......i guess ill get a metric socket that fits my impact gun as well for that. _________________ Blade 150DX

That worked great. But the first 38MM impact socket I bought would slip even thoughit seemed to fit. Then I got a different 38MM and it fit great and work great.
i just said screw-it and i clamped it in a vise, and used a pipe wrench on the nut.
but BIGEs ways sounds much beter. _________________ 2005 TALON GX150 IIR

No doubt that putting it on the floor and stepping on is the easiest way. I have been doing it that way for years. _________________ Custom Buggy http://www.buggynews.com/topic13417.html
