well I have decided to go turbo Twisted Evil
but heres the interesting part, I am going to peice together a custom kit myself. I am planning to run blow thru with an intercooler @ 10 psi of course. heres what I got lined up so far
IHI T-25 from a stock subaru WRX
12x7x2.5 intercooler w/ 2 inch inlet and outlet from a stock mitsubishi eclipse
Piping and BOV from Pee-bay of course Wink
Im going to have all the necessary flanges machined up by a friend
I plan to weld a t 25 flange to the stock exhaust pipe and support the turbo off the trans with a custom bracket.

what I need the most help with is the blow thru carb... the foam floats, are they ok with boost? and I need to have the throttle shafts sealed correct? Or does anyone know where can I get a good deal on blow thru carbs (preferably 32/36)?

heres some pic of the turbo

I am running the stock carb on mine and haven't had an issue yet. I sent my exhaust and carb. to Scott at unleashed and he modified what he had to on both. It looks like he just rejeted the carb. but not 100% sure.

I have some experiance with blow through on VWs and we never used a special carb, just have to get the jetting and adjustments right. I am not familiar with a special carb for turbos, or how they might differ from any other carb. Typically you will be running rich until the turbo kicks in. The secret is you dont want to be lean after the turbo kicks in very bad for the engine. Van

thanks jojano, that should help me out with some plumbing ideas. I have a general idea of how I want it but I am sure that I am missing something or there is maybe a better way...

oh yeah one more question, does the kit come with an electric fuel pump and adjustable regulator?

Here is what the kit from Unleashed looks like. There are a couple of ways to mount the turbo. This position keeps the heat from the turbo away from the motor and allows the intake to breath better. This is pre intercoller.

wow thats suprisingly simple I like it. he just welded a 90 on the end of the stock pipe, smart I was thinking of something like that but I already cut up the stock exhaust bracket to run the spark arrestor exhaust in the right place.... so now I gotta un-bolt the exhaust housing from the turbine and rotate the turbine 90 degrees to get the oil dump pointing straight down. then I gotta run 90 fittings for the coolant lines to clear the exhaust flange on the turbo. what kind of turbo is it, is it water cooled? looks like the same size as mine...

actually the way I was going to mount the turbo is straight in line with the exhaust, the intake side towards the engine. its like rotating your turbo 90 degrees. I figure that should do a good job of keeping the heat away from the engine.

whats the other little air filter with the sheild, is that the Blow off valve?

still wondering about the fuel pump and regulator too....

I can not speak on the unleashed turbo kit but my 650 joyner with the turbo is using a Holley Blue pump. works awesome. they cost about $100 bucks from summit or jegs. good luck. RICK
