I can not speak on the unleashed turbo kit but my 650 joyner with the turbo is using a Holley Blue pump. works awesome. they cost about $100 bucks from summit or jegs. good luck. RICK

great info racingbear, thanks I will check those out...

small update... I have sourced a blow off valve and housing/tubing also from a mitsubishi eclipse. the tubing diameter is the same as the air outlet on the turbo, 1.75" so I might switch the whole system to 1.75" piping to keep things clean and simple. the only trouble is that 1.75" intercooler stuff is pretty scarce...

Still would like to hear someones input about whether I need an electric fuel pump and regualtor or not??

Elec. fuel pump and regulator is a must. The stock pump won't keep up. The rule of thumb is, at idle, set the regulator to 4-5 psi, no more, or you will flood the engine. The turbo pressure will increase the fuel pressure if hooked up correctly.

good luck

thanks for confirming jojano. I figured I needed one I was just wondering which pump and regulator people run... also wondering if I bypass the stock fuel pump correct??

racingbear - at first I thought you were talking about a holley carb but when I looked I realized you were giving me a good suggestion for a fuel pump. thanks. btw how much boost do you run on the 650??

Max'd out at about 9 psi currently, when the boost comes on you can definitely feel it, compared to my non boosted buggy. Your gonna love it.

another small update
decided the intercooler I had was too damaged so I picked one up off of Ebay. Its perfect, and a bargain at only $10... Its got two very sturdy looking mounting tabs so it should be fairly easy to fabricate a mounting bracket for it.
from a nissan 240sx

slowly but surely gathering parts together... going a little slower than I first hoped but thats typical....

Hello,

I'm building a turbo on a 650cc engine.
How did you make the oil return from the turbo?

You want the oil drain tube pointing straight down to allow gravity to help keep the oil flowing out of the turbo. If you look below you see my oil drain is not positioned correctly (turbo mounted differently on the car it came from) in relation to the exhaust entrance on the turbo. I still need to rotate the turbine housing 90 degrees so the drain is pointing straight down... but the bolts holding the exhaust housing to the turbine housing are stuck on so tight from the heat that they stripped round when
i tried to loosen them.... so now its saws-all time! Twisted Evil

From the drain tube you want the oil return line to follow the shortest and most direct path possible back to the oil pan. also try to have the most slope down to the oil pan as possible in the retrun line.

good luck and report back

I actually havent gotten that far yet myself I still am collecting parts for my setup. You need to tap the oil pan by either making a hole and treading the tap into it or welding the tap in. Im probably going to weld it in myself
The oil feed line must come off of tap installed into a oil port somewhere on your block. I dont have the same engine as you in my Buggy I have the Huaihai 800cc engine in my buggy, so I cant tell you where the oil port exactly is on yours....
