Yesterday I took a look at this buggy advertised on craigslist, the guy selling it is the owner of Christian Brothers plumbing. Last summer he bought a Roketa gk06 to use up north and didn't winterize it. Well it froze up and cracked the engine all to hell. Long story short, They started to convert it to a kohler 12hp and didn't get too far orig. engine, exhaust and rad have all been scrapped but the rest of the Kart is pristine. link http://phoenix.craigslist.org/rvs/662411106.html _________________ Semper Fidelis

Go for it. There are tons of engines to pick from to convert it. _________________ Custom Buggy http://www.buggynews.com/topic13417.html

The thought did cross my mind but I need to get a running Kart for the family to use this summer I kind of felt sorry for this guy because he had no idea this forum existed & didn't know that parts could be found easily. His loss, someone elses gain I guess. _________________ Semper Fidelis

Yeah, if you don't have a running buggy now you better drag one home that does run, or you might be spending this Summer in the DOGHOUSE _________________ DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!!!!!!

Ha! So I'm not the only one. First time I opened the air filter housing for maintenance, I got yelled at for "not being able to leave things alone!!!!"
Back to topic... what winterizing ideas do you have? I live in snow 5 months of the year. My Carter GSX150 isn't always running in it (since we get up to 4 feet of the stuff sometimes). But I definitely run it all year long. It's only parked when it gets too cold... -20C or colder. So far, aside from some deterioration of the rubber hoses and cable jackets, I haven't seen any issues. Then again... it's completely stock right now, waiting for new rollers, clutch, etc. What kind of preventative maintenance would you suggest, aside from a slightly heavier oil?

I think the winterization applies to the water cooled ones. Sounds liek teh aforementioned kart was running straight water, or a weak antifreeze mixture. _________________ 05 Jehm Adventure Buggy 250cc, Torque Spring, 22.5gr Rollers, Modified Roll Cage, K&N, 21x7x10 & 22x11x10 Trac Star Radials, Vapor, Body Panels, 40T Spkt
