Today was the first day that I took the dune 150 out to my riding spot, with the Blaster rear shocks. I ride in a the desert that is mostly compacted dirt, caliche, gravel, and sand , don't bother looking for a tree or a blade of grass. This area is filled with hills and valleys (years ago this was part of the Mint 400 off road race).

I was extremely pleased with the blaster shocks. What they did is make all the other mods more significant. We spend alot of time making our engines perform better, but not utilizing their potential due to poor suspension. I don't know how good the shocks are on other buggiies, but if you have a dune Blaster shocks need to be very high on your mod list,

p.s. The whoops are a blast when your foot is on the gas!

Greg

Greg I couldn't agree more!!
Are you planning to upgrade the front to really get the full potential out of the Dune?

BTW did you mount the Blasters using adapter shackles (same ride height) or put them straight in (high rear)?

Yeah Guy, actually when I got home from riding, I read my email , from ebay, stating that I won the bid on the Arctic Cat front shocks. So I'm hoping I get the same kinda of performance upgrade as I did with the blaster shocks, which would be awesome. To put it in perspective when me and my son switched carts (we have a troublesome stock Reaction) it felt cheap and way over matched .

To answer the second question I bolted them on with out any modification to the cart, just shaving the eyes to fit. My stock shock measured 13 1/2" the blasters were 14".

As soon as the Reaction issues are settled it will be getting shocks also, along with the other basic mods. Thanks to you and RMB I know exactly what I'm looking for. Oh yeah explain to me about bypassing the brake saftey to create a brake light, that is a great mod.

Get with RMB to find out where he got his springs for the AC shocks. He has 150# springs and likes them lots. I have 120# and the ride is nice but they're really too soft for hard use or 2 riders.

On that brake light mod trace the wires from the brake switch. There may be 2 bullet connectors where you can unplug the wires & plug them into each other. I'm hoping my memory is good on this--I know the Yerf had these connectors and I *think* the Dune did, too. If not, you will need to cut & join them together. My Dune is up north at my cabin so I can't verify the brake switch wiring.
The buggy will now start without having to hold down the brake.
Now with no connection to the brake switch you cut into one of the wires going to your existing always-on tailight and run 2 wires from there down to the switch. Now your tailight will only come on when the brake is pressed. If you want to go further you can also install a resistor across the switch. This will keep the tailight on dim when the buggy is running but will go bright when the pedal is pushed.

Hi John,

Nice work on the tank! Is that a 32mm carb? I notice you have a riser between the intake and performance manifold. I need a good one. It looks like aluminum. What's the height of the riser? Where can I buy one like that?

Thanks,

Andy

I got the riser in a box of goodies from a memeber off this site who sold it on ebay! Box had a TON of parts and goodies, including a spare billet manifold and a couple stock, some CDI's, a stoker crank, and tons of parts and gaskets and what not. For me, it was a gold mine for the price... And he even threw in extra goodies!!!! Awesome... Anyway, the riser is about 3" close to 4... It looks custom made, cnc possibly... The bolt holes were a tad uneven, so I had to grind the bolts down to make them fit... I had no spacers to use for the stock studs, and I had no screws or bolts the right size to put into the head, so I used the studs and ground a few nuts to fill in the gap...

As far as performance, the buggy is running better than it ever has i think, especially with the 32mm carb. That is the 32mm pumper carb, I got it from Glade at Edge motorsports. Great guy, lightning fast with the parts and stuff...

So... where are the pix of your Dune????
