Nice ride!!!!!! I like it alot!
Its always nice to see others ideas and set ups
Nice work with the clear floor mats too. Good thinking
I can t wait to ride in mine with the new set up. I noticed that you just have the stock arctic cat springs on there, how are those treating you? Are you still thinking of getting the 150s like RMB? Also, what size tire do you have on the front?
For that speed you could change out your rollers for some heavier ones and gain a bit. You will loose a bit of low end, but if you dont feel it is needed, then this will give it to you.
I hear ya on the heat, it was 100 here too. It went from 50 and snow to 100 in 3 weeks time period. (crazy mountain desert). You should talk to az about his water mister set up he has on his kart. He deals with even higher temps then us.
Thanks for the pics! _________________ Baja Dune 150

GMAN... It tried the stock springs from the AC shocks... Didnt work too well... They are only 90lbs and dont hold you from a lot of abuse on the parts. you can actually bottom those out and the AC shocks dont like that very much...
I still have those springs too! lol
I like your tank boosters!!! lol... I used 1/4" stainless pipe to lift mine up... What did you use? Great work!
MONK... Not a smart @$$ comment. I really want side panels. I am buying a few peices of thin sheet plastic (hoepfully red), and I am going to cut it to match the frame... I am still trying to figure out how to go around the shocks, and how much I actually need... Looks great though!
You should think about material of some sort. Canvas wasn't that much $. My reason is 1 - take it off and wash it in the washing machine!!! and 2 - light wieght and flexable. My problem with the hard stuff was that I would have to cut the top of the side panel at the top side bar (by your waist) on the frame and that isn't high enough for the dust off the front tire. I thought of the canvas because I could just snap it on both sides of opening and let it be flexible, also can just undo one snap and have full opening to exit the cart.
Just my 2 cents. _________________ Baja Dune 150

I was leaning for the thin plasic as it is easily replacible... i can cut it anyway I want, and zip tie!!!! lol... I know a couple members on this site tried snaps and such for different materials and had mixed results... I like the idea of the plasic as I can just powerwash it with the rest! lol
I was just thinking the plastic will work better for you since you deal with that heavy mud. I dont know that the material would hold up in all that. Im just blocking dust and dirt.
Did you see Gman's solution for the front? Check it out he used clear mats. _________________ Baja Dune 150

Something I noticed (only cause I'm anal) the wire you have running down the frame toward the back.....
I learned a great trick while tearing down my dune. You can really easily run that wire inside the frame with the others.
If you have any interest in doing let me know and i will share the trick. If not ignore me, it looks really nice anyways!!!! _________________ Baja Dune 150

John I use 1/2 conduit (painted) 5/16" all thread or threaded rod. the clear plastic work great, one thing to keep in mind when adding those panels, opposed to clear mats, is obstructed view. That said just having them in the front of the cart keeps the floor relatively clear of debris. Like you John I was thinking lightweight plastic while looking for something cheap I seen car mats , then thought that will work. $9.99 and I still have the Longer front mats to do another cart, or the entire side if mud or water was an issue, plus you just hose them off.
Monk, sure tell me your trick, I'm not really sold on the location of my lights and lack of dash space so I went with an easy temporary setup but I did decided on the switch location. I'll take it off and paint when i decided on the light. Now I did see another dune owner with the light mounted on the brush guard I will try that to check the visibility,. Right now I dont feel i get the benefit of all the light in there present location.
I was having issues wondering were to put my extra light switch as well. Then I found this image. I think this is a really good idea if you only have one or two switches. Clean and easy. I will pm you some instructions tomorrow on how to run the wire.

I just posted it on here in case anybody else wanted to know.
So here is how I re ran the wires through the frame:
- First you will need a pretty long piece of string. Sorry I don’t know an exact measurement. It just needs to be long enough to go from front wire grommet and extend 2 ft or so out the back grommet.
- Tape (duct or electrical will work best.)
Ok so now we can start.
- Disconnect all wires from ignition and lights at front of
kart.
- Place all ends of wires at equal length in hand
- Tie the string around all ends of the wires together
- Now place a piece of tape over the string to secure it from coming off, try not to make to thick. It will need to still go through the hole in the frame
- Pull all wires through frame from the rear, BECAREFULL you do not pull string all the way through!!!! If needed, tape front end of string to frame so you cant pull it into the frame!!
- All wires will be exposed and string is still located in frame from front to back.
- Now re-tie all new wires that you want to go through the frame, to the string and tape again.
- Now just pull the string back through to the front of the kart and wires will follow. Placing them all within the frame.
- Now you can do as needed to hook everything back up in the correct location
Pretty simple job, and gets rid of the wires. I hope this helps. I found it to work great. If you have any questions or things don’t make since, just let me know and I can explain further. _________________ Baja Dune 150
