The blaster shocks make a world of difference. They actually make the front ones just that much worse now. haha... or at least that much more noticeable.
I'll take pics of the brackets I made for the blaster shocks for anyone who wants to see them... and then I'll list the things I've done with the front shocks to make them fit, if needed. I hope not, but it's hard to find parts that just fit, you know?
Unlike Talonman, not all of us are able or willing to spend $900+ on shocks. haha no offense to Talonman, if you're reading this. ; )
Anyway, i should get the shocks by next week and then install them next weekend. I'll have full details after then. _________________ Baja Reaction 150 ~ Uni Filter ~ 128 Jet ~ NGK Iridium Plug
I used Honda 400EX shocks on the back of my Reaction 150. They resulted in the rear suspension being jacked up another 1" or so but I left it alone. I just installed 23X7-10 tires/rims this past week and that has leveled it out quite nicely. The kart now goes through and over things that would completely stop it before. The front shocks definately need replacing but finding ones that will fit down through the upper a-arm is tough. I am contemplating moving the lower shock mounts to the upper arms and adding shock towers so that the choice of shocks won't be so limited.
Oh, and also as a side note. The redwing shocks that i put the pic up of might be kind of hard to find, if they even do work great. I was curious about the company so I did quite a bit of searching and found out that the company is no longer. There are a couple of places that sell them over the net, but they jack up the prices quite a bit. I think i got lucky to find them on ebay... but if they do work great I could contact the person on ebay and see if they have more. but basically any redwing shocks you'll find new are just old stock that have been sitting in a warehouse for who knows how long. _________________ Baja Reaction 150 ~ Uni Filter ~ 128 Jet ~ NGK Iridium Plug
Ok, it's been awhile, but I'm back with more info. good and bad....
The good news it the redwing shocks fit PERFECT... the bad news is the spring rate is way too low. It sags almost to the point of bottoming out just sitting still. I was disappointed, but now I have a new idea and with a little luck it will work. Since the redwing shocks ended up not working, but fitting great and they really are quality shocks and rebuildable, which means I can take them apart... which means I can change the springs... which means I can cut the stock shocks apart, get the springs and change them out to go on the redwings, so i would have good shocks and the right spring rate.
I might be coming off as compulsive about this, but I have made it my own personal battle to find a shock replacement for my buggy, other than buying new baja motorsports crap shocks just for them to give out in 6 months again.
I'm sorry for the delay, if anyone has been waiting on results. This weekend I WILL take pics of the back blaster shocks and mounts. and I WILL let you know how the front shocks work out... WITH PICS in the next few days.
Later everyone. _________________ Baja Reaction 150 ~ Uni Filter ~ 128 Jet ~ NGK Iridium Plug
Ok, I got the shocks to work. It wasn't as easy as I hoped it would be, but they work now. I ended up having to cut 2 1/2 coils off of the original springs to get them to fit... pic included. So, in the end there was no real easy way to get new shocks on this model of buggy. If anyone finds direct replacement that don't cost and arm and a leg let us all know. The pic is of redwing shocks with the original baja motorsports springs.
As for the back shocks I took a pic of the new brackets I made to make the blaster shocks work. I placed them back about an inch from the original brackets.
