Peter did you make those shackles or buy them, and would something like that work on the front? Jeff disregard the info on the front shock we have different Reactions, my shock are 17" with a 9'shaft, or whatever and a 7" spring, calling them bargain basement shocks might be a complement. If any one knows of a good replacement for that desription please let me know.

The shock shackles were actually a collaborative effort. Guy48065 thought up the original design using band stock, I refined the idea using trailer leaf spring shackles and JTRamsey notched them to clear the desired angle.
Guy48065 originally had two bolts going through the frame brackets into the shackles to prevent them from extending when you unload the rear end. I found these were not needed for the rear swingarm, but that design element would have to be used on the front. He actually had brackets on the front of his buggy for shorter shocks at one time: http://home.comcast.net/~mburnette/duneweb/dunepix/reservoir_shocks.jpg a> _________________ 08 Joyner SViper 250

I'm still waiting on the blaster shocks, but those shackles are very cool. Where did you get those shocks?
Here's another question for anyone... How long do good shocks last? assuming there aren't any defects. _________________ Baja Reaction 150 ~ Uni Filter ~ 128 Jet ~ NGK Iridium Plug

I originally made the shackles for my Yerfdog so I could use the longer Blaster shocks without having to relocate the lower mount as some others had done (or install them as is for a rear-end-high tilt). It works great and works equally well on the Dune. Even though I did this to 2 buggies it never occurred to me to space the brackets apart so you don't need to cut or grind the top eye of the Blaster shocks. Older & wiser I guess...LOL
And yes--you CAN run shorter shocks in the front. The stockers are 18" long but only have a measly 4 1/2" of travel so any good shock with at least that much travel can be used--but adapters will be needed to fit them up. _________________ _________________

Your idea was the inspiration, we just made the 2.0 version. _________________ 08 Joyner SViper 250

well, i got the blaster shocks and i matched them up to my buggy. the length is right for the back, but the eyelets are way too wide. I'm going to have to do some major grinding to make them fit... or I could weld new brackets. I think i'll grind these bad boys and see how that works. If they were nicer, newer shocks I would take the time and build new brackets, but these aren't worth it. I'll let you know how they work next week. _________________ Baja Reaction 150 ~ Uni Filter ~ 128 Jet ~ NGK Iridium Plug

Im preparing to install the blaster shocks on my Dune, and wanted to know, has anyone just mounted them without the brackets? How much will it raise your rear end? What are the down falls to doing it this way?
Thanks,

I mounted mine without any brackets. The rearend sits a little high but I plan on putting taller tires on the front anyway since the front tires are way too small in my opinion. Otherwise it rides fine.

Dave,
That was my plan as well...would like the ground clearance, but wasn't sure. Does it raise it alot? How much in inches?
Thanks again,
Does anyone know of any issues with doing this way? _________________ Baja Dune 150
