I am installing a UNI Filter on the carb, and was wondering if I need to leave the original air box, and air filter in place. It seems that the box has an integral connection to the CVT, and I am not sure how to deal with this if the BOX comes off.
It is difficult to get pictures, but I have tried, and here are two shots of the part that goes to the CVT. This small box has a foam filter inside of it.
If I take off the air box, this piece is attached to the air box, and comes off, leaving a gaping hole in the top of the CVT.
What should I do? Right now, I just left the box on, and plugged the hole that used to go the carburetor.
Also showing in the first picture is a hose that comes off the head and plugs into the air box right beside the piece I am talking about. What do I do with this hose if I remove the air box?
remove the air box, take the foam filter and put in on the opening for the cvt cover and use the stock clamp to hold it on, then put some uni filter oil on it. the hose is a vent for the crank case, I took mine and run it so its out of the way and put a smal vent filter on it. _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

Thanks again Eric! I'll do that. Removing the box will make working in around the area much nicer, with all the extra room. I'll get some filter foam for the crankcase ventilation hose, and pull the airbox out.
I just tried the yellow clutch springs, I am going to try the white ones and see what that does. _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

Youmight not want to oil that foam filter. I've read that the oil will get in the air and then on the parts inside and could cause sliping. I run a U602 Uni on my cvt dry. I put some pics of it in a post on CVT cooling. My Rhino has no filter or srceen from the factory. I think the no oil idea came from K&N or Uni in relation to the Rhino CVT filter. _________________ '07 Hammerhead 250 SS

I left the air box and capped it off on your second picture. _________________ Roketa GK-06 CN250

That's exactly what I have done for right now. I just stuffed the cap from the UNI oil can into the hole, and tightened the screw back down. When I have it apart to put in the springs and stuff, I'm going to see about taking the box off, though.
I am just curious what your results were with the white springs? I have put the white ones into my clutch, but I have nothing to compare it to other than the stock ones.
It was difficult to get the new springs seated, so I am not keen on swapping them out again!
Also, if it makes any difference, when I pulled the airbox off, it appears that the CVT breather sponge was oiled from the factory, so I re-oiled it after cleaning it. _________________ Spyder 250 (KTR-250W, or GK-29)
