hello more questions ,i just noticed on a site that the cage is not a roll cage ,has anybody actually tipped their buggy over and how did the cage do???
From information I can find on the web , the cage is purely recreational(whatever that means) and if you are thinking of going mad in the bug an upgrade including cross member may be of benefit. However, safety being paramount in all cases , obviously check were you are going to drive first, wear as much safety equipment as you feel comfortable in(including bike helmet) and remember speed is not of the essense in these things.
Get yourself to a dealer, get a test drive and ask as many questions as you can think of.
I have never flipped my 800cc buggy or anything myself, but my friend flipped his kinroad 250cc at 35mph with two 180 lbs people in it. nobody had helmets, hell no shirts or shoes even ... but nobody got hurt. The cage got bent in pretty bad tho, but still held up. _________________ 2006 Roketa 800cc - K&N + precharger, rejetted, manual carb secondary, Desertkart spark arrest muffler, limiting straps, & lots of repairs...
My first reply was, I realise, what I would have told my kids .
However, having re-thought this through, here is my real answer.
No, the "roll" cage isnt a safety cage. You can hang things on it like lights etc.You can even use it to climb in and out. It looks like it will cave in if hit hard enough. But so what , you can be killed crossing the road.
Just go for it man and dont worry too much about the safety elements. You only live once!
ye i may only live once and that is goin to be a long once ,cos i,m a heller and i will roll my joyner when i get it ,i can garaunte that ,so would like to know hoiw it stands up to inversion ,i will have all my kit on ,but safety first........
If you are asking about the 650 Sand Spider roll cage, look for a post in BUGGY DISCUSSION-LARGE BUGGIES AND SAND RAILS titled, WOW!! Joyner LS2. In that post KenN describes when his neighboor did 2 back over front flips. The Sand Spider was destroyed, but the neighboor walked away. Thats not to say all Sand Spiders will perform that well in a crash, but that is the only post I can remember talking about a Sand Spider rollover.
4stroke good luck to you in your future rollover and be safe while inverted.
