this is my 4th clutch. this time it was a racing clutch and wasnt made out of that cheap aluminum.
problem is i climb hills a 1/4 mile long and by the time i get to the top my cvt intake hose has smoke boiling out of it. its not so much eating the clutch pad as it is melting the clutch arms.
i know it sounds crazy but the aluminum is actually melting and dripping on the belt and inside the cvt housing. i have inspected everything on my cvt and its fine! no errors just that i put a ton of strain on the ole gal.
so here it is. while im getting a new modification together on how to stop the overheating lets hear some reviews from fellow members on their cvt heating issues. i will post pictures as i go! _________________ 150cc kinroad gy6, 9 gram rollers, k&n airfilter, gutted exhaust, 30mm carb, racing coil, racing cdi, bigger battery, gates belt, 2,000lb winch, redneck force fed cvt intake
There is a vented cvt cover out there. Just have to watch the mud and water. _________________ Custom Buggy http://www.buggynews.com/topic13417.html

I took the snorkel off the cvt cover and just run a piece of air filter over it no problems yet. _________________ 2006 carter gx150llr lots of goodies

i had heat problems to cracker were i live it seem your always going up hill to get any where like jabo said there is a vented cvt cover you can get to help get that heat away from the clutch faster.
i have a snorkle running up by drivers seat with no filter just screen it seems to let a good air flow in,working for now.
i drill some 3/8's holes in my cvt cover to help that clutch heat i think around 6 holes.you can fill it letting warm air out after hammering on it for a while
also i made a mud guard to help keep things out and its been working good but i know doing things like this will not work for everybody, its gotta fit your riding style.
heres a few picture of what i was talking about.

i have a pipe just like that on mine. it was much better than the stock with the filter but its still not enough. i can hear it whistling when its sucking air so i know its working but at low speeds its not able to get enough free air.
Here is what i have so far. dont laugh i know its redneck
it seems to work pretty good as far as forcing air down the tube. i still have to work on something to go on the to protect the fan blades.
drilling holes or a slotted cvt wont work for me i do alot of sloppy mud riding
keep in mind everything i have used to make this with was junk laying around the house i did not go out and buy anything
Picture 076.jpg: 2 Time(s) Viewed, 1.21 MB the fan is out of a junk computer
Picture 077.jpg: 2 Time(s) Viewed, 1.27 MB the glue is plastic epoxy i had laying around the house. The blue housing its part of a quart of motor oil top. used a lighter to heat the pastic and form it. then drilled some holes in the fan to screw it into place to keep the glue from breaking loose
cracker i never laugh at anybodys ideas to me thats one of things here that makes this place enjoyable for me.
as far as being redneck did you not see where i'm from
i know i mention this before but going with bigger axle sprocket
will help you out alot on some of this heat and its not a big job to change, again just a thought 4 clutch's is a lot
i liked the pictures and good on the next clutch.

thanks pud. i have the kinroad with the dual chain and i would have to have the parts in my hand to look at them to see if i could matching something up, i cannot tell if a sprocket will fit just by looking at the picture.
here is the clutch i bought for 40.00$ its a racing clutch and its made out of some type of shiny aluminum actually looks like stainless. its light and looks to be built alot better than the stock. the main thing is it works so good. i can actually feel this one "hit" when it engadges.
personally i think it was worth more than 100.00 and he said he had a few more of these that i could pay 50.00 per or buy them all for 40.00 per. soo looks like im set on good clutches

thats a good buy on that clutch.
try BIGE on the sprocket if you would be interested in one later.
i think he is getting 37t double row sprockets for some of the guys

that would be great if he could get me a tooth or 2 smaller sprocket for my kinroad..
pictures of finished product. the fan works great it helps the cvt pull more air at low speeds. you can feel a good breeze from the macroni on the back of the cvt now
