all in all it seems to be going alright. It's growing on me, which is a good sign.
Reverse seems to not want to go back to fwd half of the time, I lubed the cable and that helped for a few cycles and then it's back to it. I'm just going to minimize my use of it, maybe even take the linkage out.
and i finally found the rattle, broken exhaust mount.
I should be able to get out and do some serious time in the desert to fully break it in, hopefully the top end will open up a little more and not seem so strained. i think the lighter roller fix is in my future.
i did the first oil change and it looked clean but awfully light. i'm going with dino 10w/40 for the first change and then go synth. Is there a problem with heavier stuff, i have some mobil 1 15w50 i was planning on using..
You're right pghruby, the chassis is settling. _________________ 2007 gk-28

Although I like synthetic oils, I change the oil frequently in the buggy and feel that I can get the same protection changing conventional oil more often. _________________ 07 Joyner SandSpider 650

yeah i've done it both ways in the past for different kinds of engine, but the little sucker runs less than a quart in it and pulls me and my son miles out in the desert- so I figure it deserves the best.
It did well saturday, climbed most of the hills i pointed it at. went down some crazy downhills that were basically short cliffs, i was quite surprised. I think it's bogging a bit at high rpms because it's not breathing well. gonna hit AB today and get one of those beer can filters and see how that does. _________________ 2007 gk-28

Open up the exhaust and the buggy will come to life...
I had the same problem with top end and just gutted the exhaust and it went away...all you need is a hack saw
jonsonjonson has already found some great ways to eliminate the bog problem also:D and the mods are cheap Erci (BIGE) carries a lot of the parts at his store _________________ Team - The Gas Guzzlers

Yeah I figured that would be next, though I really like it as quiet as possible. how much louder did it get for you? did you change the carb setup too? _________________ 2007 gk-28

Here is a link that has two videos of my buggy running...It is not two loud, but if noise is a issue you can also buy a slip on that will do the same thing with out the noise which Eric also carries at his store
http://www.buggynews.com/topic13018.html
I did try two jets...I started with the 130 jet with a UNI which would bog than go which means I need to step up the pilot jet, if using the 130 setup...than I ran the 128 which would not run with the uni and did ok with the stock air box...but I ended up putting back on the stock 116 jet...the kart seems to perform its best with the stock Jet and open exhuast. I am plaining on upgrading my CVT with some new springs and rollers soon seems that makes a huge differance on these style karts...but I think the kart does very well for stock, The exhuast is just very restrictive...I lost my camera, other wise I would snap some pics of how restrictive it is _________________ Team - The Gas Guzzlers

Bear in mind that the UNI filter will make your buggy louder too. Our buggy was noticeably louder when I took off the stock air box and added a UNI filter direct to the carb.
Not enough louder that we can't drive it in the neighborhood, but louder, none-the-less
