I did cut that piece inside the rack, like the service bulletin says.
Works well, but not as much as moving in the tie rods.

sprocket walked on shaft,
Gocartus, did you put back the locking plate on the sprocket?

got it home to find bad carrier bearings, rear hub bearings
On my GTR what appears to be a bearing problem is often loose castle nuts. Anyone else got this problem too?
Gocartus, did you put in new bearings? Mine are up for replacement soon, are they of a standard size I could find off the shelve somewhere or something special?
TF, nice work on those front fenders. I'm sure you don't mind me lending your idea for this
By the way... I'm looking into getting some Dutch front struts for Gocartus. They modded for better steering and are much sturdier than stock. I'm stuck on whether or not the upper A-arms are modded too (importer won't tell me).
On TF's pic I can see how they fit, but pic is unsharp in that section. Please tell me if there is a steel ball fitted in the A-arm.
Or better still... a pic (without the rubber cap!)

Jackster, made sure locking plate was tight.I went to a bearing dealer, carters said just take old bearings in with you.So should i move tie rod holes back and cut that piece or just move tie rod hole.My castle nuts come loose to,i was wondering about that speed wire the use on race bikes to lock things on,its special wire and a tool twist it tight.I may be called some thing else but thats what its for.How percise should the shimm be,i i dont have a metal band saw so it would be hacksaw and vise.
Good to know that the bearings aren't some only made in China type. Thanks.
For steering I'd start with moving the tie rods. For the rack you have to take the whole assembly off. And not all GTR's need that mod, I think it only affects the early ones (as mine is).
I know what you mean with that wire and tool. That could be a good solution. I'm going to try replacing the split pin with a small nut and bolt. Let's see what difference that makes.
Did my shim with a hack saw and some filing too, just takes a bit longer. Height depends on what main spring you have in. Mine is slightly stronger than stock (not much) I shimmed it about 6/7 mm. Gettinmud has a stock spring he did his 8mm.
If it's to tight (loosing top end or acceleration ) you can always take a bit off.
