gettinmud; see that U R in Oregon, Glad to see another Local... where U at ??
Have you opened up air intake (Uni filter, & I left the air box on this one But drilled 8-1" holes in OEM box & popped in louvered vent caps, opened up stock exh., & irrium pl., litl jetting increase, & I feel gained a bit of rev & torque... Im still running stock rollers & clutch, as both are very good 4 type of riding we do. Is a very good all around buggy even at its almost stock, state... only real issues for me is lame spindle ball joints (Broken both sides to date, & feel this is its weak link), come to think of it I better order the next pair to have on hand, this makes a bad day managable, as it takes only bout an hour to thro new one on & get back ridding.

I am in Roseburg, where are you located? I did put on a K&N with no box, went up 1 jet size, and 1 heat range hotter plug, I am thinking about gutting the muffler- whats your take on that? I am going to check into a 300 kit for it this week, and maybe go ahead and port and polish while I am in there.

Im in Tri-Cities Wa. (is on my profile)... If your OEM muffler same as mine, some improvement in unrestricting exh. is to simply unbolt end cap & run w/out it; but I also split muffler can & gutted almost all (there is a internal baffle that is major restriction, & end cap internals are coned down to 1/2 the size of whats visible from the outside), I welded a band around stinger end & high temp silicone sealed/riveted muffler back together (similar to most m/x silencers), as I need to be able to install Spark Arrester screening for some of riding areas (during our dry season).
I love my GTR... has been pretty reliable (except for weak front end components, compared to my Joyners A-arm syle), ... but GTR will give me my fastest laps on our tite corner m/x track, out of all 3 our buggys...maybe you show us pics of terrain where U ride, heres one of my new sister in law w/neice in our backyard (maybe we just too hard on my 250cc)

Hi Getinmud,

Welcome to BN, glad to see another GTR driver.
TF is right, the GTR comes stocked with a lot of power.
Power that costs a lot of money to get on most other buggies.
But there's always room for improvement Smile

And you're right too. It's quite loud. And the stock top end is
lower than you might expect (44mph). Mostly due to the restricted intake and low gear (14 tooth front). Open up that intake... that's not difficult to do and doesn't cost to much. It will give you a good idea of what you can expect from this engine... there's a lot to be gained Wink I'm running a 16 tooth front sprocket with ease, top end about 55/56.

Jackster

PS thanks for your confidence guys.
I'll check if there's a big 'J' under my shirt. lol

By the way TF...
I love your track... (in fact I'm a bit jealous)
Hills seem to have just the right angle for buggies to get some air Smile
