Hello

I am new to this site and I am a new owner of a used cart. The issue that I am having I believe is that the choke is not working. What I am wondering is if I can bypass the auto choke and hook wires to the choke and put it on a switch and then energize it when I need to choke it. Or is there a manual choke that I can buy or build for this thing? So far the only thing I am going to change is the lights running off of the engine to running off of the batteries.

Also a question I have is what will it take for me to get this thing to have some power to spin the tires. Is this possible to do in a 150cc?

Thanks in advance for any help

The choke works backwards of how you are describing it. The choke has an electrical element that heats up and eventually pushes a pin out to block the enrichment circuit when the engine is warm. BigE sells a manual cable choke or you can bore out the electric choke and control it with a bolt.

The charging circuit very weak in these engines. If you run the lights off the battery, you will deplete it and not be able to restart your buggy if your turn it off. There are larger stators that will allow you to run brighter additional lights if you wish to upgrade.

Upgrade the CVT with lighter rollers and a heavier torque spring to tune the transmission better for buggy use. Replace the intake filter box with a quality low restriction intake air filter and rejet your carburetor so your engine runs better.

j9m9t, on the choke bige sells a nice choke set up.
the way these chokes are set up you cant put a switch on them and work wright. when engine running it puts juice to choke heating up a needle, pushing it down into choke base shutting it off. so it needs current when running to keep choke off, then when you shut engine off it cools down opens choke back up.
they do go bad but why do you think it is choke, have you looked at spark plug to see what color it is.
if you could give a little more info would help.
being a use buggy it could be a few things like in need of a valve adjustment, rubber cracked on intake things like that.

The reason that I think the choke isn't working is that It takes along time of cranking on the motor to finally get it started. But once it gets started it runs good and you can just hit the starter and it will fire right up as long as the motor is warm. It will do this with the choke connected or not (unplugged). I never have trusted electric choke.

Is there a kit that you can buy as say a performance upgrade to do what you have been describing?

j9m9t you can go to aftermarket and oem parts and look at the choke bige sells in that forum. its on page2 call gy6 cable opperated choke.
also i would go to service manual mini buggys and download a 150cc manual they are for different buggys but they will work and handy to have.
also i would look into adjusting valves or checking them.this is just a common thing to happen they all get out of adjustment and make them really hard to start and then no starts.
i agree with you on the choke mine is converted to manual.
