I think you hear the belt slapping.
Sound's a bit like tapping you feet.

Was afraid that's what you were hearing.
Obviously I can't be 100% sure... but I think it's OK

I found out the problem,i think one slided shifted when i was slideing unit back on shaft.I tried it again (this time i made my 5yr old million question son stay in the house with mom)No noise,jacked it up in gear belt travles to top of pulley.I may get to dyno fri if not he said next mon tue.I wonder if tunning on dyno if mrp pipe removeable endcap will be usedONCE or not ? Once again Jackster on finding the proper slider size.
Got a nephew that age... why is this... what is that... what are you doing... why... I think its great, makes me think differently about things I normally take for granted.

How do you like them?
Did you do the torque spring also?
(just shimming the stock spring makes a good difference too).
Keep me informed about your dyno tests.

Well the 5yr old knows about muffler,carb and now sliders.Since i didnt know how well carb was tunned in i put the stock back on till i go to the dyno.I could see faster take off,i only went about a block.Do you think ill gain much from the dyno.I didnt shimm yet or get new spring.
Watch it... he'll soon be asking for his own kart...
The new carb should make a significant difference.
I don't have the same one but, I think it's my best mod so far.
The dyno should make tuning it much easier.
Especially if they also do exhaust gas reading.
Wish I had access to one...
Sadly I had to tune mine the old fashioned way
That means... spending a lot of time fiddling about with it.
I swear, I couldn't look at another jet or needle for a month...
But the end result made it all worth while.
I believe your new carb doesn't have a acc.pump, or does it?
Mine doesn't (it's actually a 2 stroke carb).
So pay some special attention to the slow jet and needle.
These may prove to be a bigger influence than the main jet.

Jackster,the 30mm has no acc pump.its got 40 slow jet,whats in yours.Ill get some video ive got a nice but older high end sony digital hi-8mm im working on a mount.Dyno has the exhaust gas reader.Would i want to make sure my valves are adjusted be for its dynoed,they havent been adjusted ever,i think ive got 300-600 miles on it.Cant wait to get it done i just hate the 270 mile drive (135 each way).So would i want to try 12 to 13 front counter sprocket off the honda xr 400 (when i was talking to carters he said i could do that for some low end zip.He said any year xr 400.
I'm running a 48 slow jet now.
40 seems a bit small to me.
But then again, it isn't the same carb... so could be ok.
I think you have to find out on the dyno.
Did you already order the sprockets?
The XR 400 sprockets i found don't even look like ours.
I researched this before...
The ones that might do the job are for the XR 250
(not R or L or any other type of XR 250 just 250).
Looks like they should fit (see pic)...
Except for the locking plate, ours has a 41mm hole spacing instead of the Honda's 39 (42). It shouldn't be much of an effort to make it fit.
12 or 13 would give you some low end zip alright.
If you don't mind the top speed of 30-35.
Could be a strain to your engine, I think the revs would be to high for to long... depends on your driving. I had some problems running the 14 tooth.
Constant overheating.
But I do on road driving as well.
When you're in the dirt (short bursts and 3/4 trottle most of the time) it could work fine. Sure would keep those back wheels spinning
On valves.
My valves haven't been adjusted since I got it.
Has about 2000 miles on it now. It doesn't feel like it needed either. Runs great. Going to check them when it hits the 3000 mark.
Your GTR is practically new and with 600 miles just been run in.
I don't think valve adjustment is needed... but you could measure them to be sure.

just right for what I do with it.
