The engine wiring harness between the buggy and CUV should be the the same. The frame harness is slightly different, but should be close. You can download the service manual for the buggy from SpiderboxPerformance.com and use it for your CUV. GY6 engine performance parts are available from the featured dealers on this site as well as from BuggyDepot.com and BMIKarts.com which also carry Yerf-Dog specific parts.

Hi,

Did you ever find a wiring diagram or schematic for your Yerfdog Rover? I'm in dire need of one as well. If you can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

D

Thanks for asking. It's not mine, it's my neighbor's. He's paid ATV mechanics too much money and they couldn't get it running. He offered me a brand new Ford 302 crate motor if I could get it running. DONE! I just fixed the main prob. Ignition sw shorted and took out the stator ground wire. I've been a pro mechanic for 20+ years so this thing can't kick my butt, although troubleshooting it isn't easy because of unconventional wiring colors and engineering. I found the Yerfdog spider schematic but it was really no help because they are so different. This thing still has multiple issues. I'll lick them 1 at a time, but at least I got it running. It runs great but sure seems s-l-o-w-w-w. Maybe 10mph. Should it be faster? The axle has too much drag but the bearings are sealed and I'm not willing to deal with that. I put a new chain on and it's a bit tight but will hopefully slacken with wear. I'd still love to get ahold of the right schematic so I can save him trouble later. PS: Just because it's the neighborly thing to do, I think I'll let him keep his 302 crate motor and just ask him to reimburse me for the stator and chain I bought.
Thanks again,
Dalton

Look for air intake leaks by spraying carburetor cleaner on the elbow between the carburetor and and engine. The rubber elbow will eventually develop cracks and create vacuum leaks. Look at the plug and see if you are running rich or lean. If it is too rich, the automatic choke is either disconnected or faulty. If lean, most likely the carburetor is dirty. If the valves have never been adjusted, go ahead do this using the buggy manual you already downloaded.

The engine puts out less than 10 HP so it is not a speed demon with the weight it must haul, but it should be able to hold 20 mph. There are performance modifications that will wake up the little engine for less than $100. Let us know if you want to go further with these...
