Yours is a typical 6 or 8-pole stator.

If I had been working on engines as long as I have electronics, I'd be building supercharged, fuel injected motorcycle engines with 6-speeds running into 2-speed reverse transaxles.

Everyone has their strengths - I'm here because I learn a lot off this forum and I will not take without giving back.

thanks guys for the info.i'm rolling up now on close to 2 years on my buggy and knowing now that just about any thing could happen.i'm not one to fix some thing thats not broke but if i have read you wright when the time comes i should beable to put a 8 pole stator on like the won buggy depot sells with fly wheel, i guess that comes as a kit ?
also phruby its been a while sence we talked about this but i did change my lites and put them back on stator and stead of running them off battery.they are still really dim at idle but when i crack the throttle they get pretty bright now.i added another ground strap from engine to swing. could this have help my problem
one more question i was curious about does the choke (fuel enrichment) work off the part of the stator running the head lites.
thanks pud

brighter headlights when you run off the stator? tell me more. i have noticed like my dirtbike the higher the motor races the brighter the lights. when i got my gokart it didnt do that so i was confused why they was a constant glow. on the dirt bike i got more power when the lights were unpluged. who knows why maybe cause it was twostroke i dunno

The 8-pole and 6-pole stators with flywheel are interchangeable. The 11-pole also plugs right in, but some people are complaining about shortened bulb life. I ended up rewiring the entire engine harness and adding a light bar, running lights and brake light. I have about two more evenings before everything is done. You have to have return paths that can handle the load, otherwise that constriction will reduce power transfer and act a current limiter (not good) that dims your lights.

The electric choke runs off the AC provided by the stator - Yes this is the same source that runs your lighting. I have BigE's cable choke conversion waiting to go in once I finish the power connections.

As RPMs increase, the flywheel magnet passes over the windings faster resulting in higher AC voltage and a tighter sine wave. You get more wattage (voltage x amperage) as RPMs increase.

ok thanks again pghruby, i had converted my choke to manual some time back but i had already put the lites on the battery.after putting them back on the stator i noticed that they where brighter than before and the only thing i had done was add another ground strap and done away with choke.this now make sence why the lites are brighter not useing that extra power to run choke.
my lites have a switch that i can turn them on and off,it came that way.as i mention a while back my stock bulbs are only 15watt but now wondering if they will handle the extra power and not blow them at a high rpm?
also i have seen the manual choke that BIGE sells and that is a nice setup.
the picture didn't turn out that well but here is the watt bulb that is in mine
thanks pud

Thanks for the electrical lesson pghruby. I have BIGE's choke and it works great, just need to work on the handle to keep the wire in it.

quick question two of my wires came out of my rectifier when i tried to unplug it to redo my birdnest wiring. i dont know which color goes where.

im thinking the yellow and red are close to the selinoid and the green and white are near the seat.

am i right? does anyone have a wiring picture of a 4 prong rectifier the user manual doesnt help much in black and white

i know what you mean about the birds nest looking in the electrical box can be confusing once all the wires go into the harness.
my wire is black instead of green
