Well Ive searched for months to find rear shocks that has same dimensions as the factory shocks to no avail. I finally order some 12" fox 2.0 Coilovers with remote resevoir. This shock is about an inch longer extended and 4 inches shorter collapsed. I am worried about putting the CV in a bind. I can take care of the extended with limiting straps but its the collapsed length that has me worried. I dont want to bottom out the chassis on jumps or put the cvs under that much stress if it gets to compressed. I havent come up with a solution of a bumpstop without doing some welding. I was hoping someone else may have a solution. I guess it could possibly be something to not worry about? Thanks

I just got something in the mail....A flyer stating that Fox shocks have been developed specifically for the Joyner machines. It states that the shock for an 800 is a 2.0 coil over with springs. It sound like you ordered the correct unit.

Did you get the dual rate setup? If yes the O ring on the shaft
allows you to eliminate that bottom out prob. as long as you have the correct spring setup. I have a 10" 300rate over 8" 200rate. You may prefer something a little stiffer. Our weight range is very simular. The springs I bought have a lifetime of spring swap if needed. And I have swapped already the fronts and rear several times. Still may need one more swap.
good luck

doonrunr,
I heard about the joyner specific shocks but Fox told me I had to go thru a dealer to get em. The only local fox dealer near me didnt seem very interested in helping me. Plus I heard they didnt have the remote res. I dunno if the remote actually makes it better but I do think it looks cool!!

I did get the dual rate setup and figured my spring setup using online calculator at foa.com The spring weights I came up with are 375 Mains 250 Tenders. I am heavier than most peeps and I also wanted to increase ride height a little.

Could you put a snubber on the shock shaft to limit compression travel? I would use something real stiff (like polyurethane) so they don't just pop open on a hard landing. You can get polyurethane bushings at autoparts stores & stack them on the shaft. The Fox 2.0 has a steel body and can take a serious beating.
Another method you can look into (I'm not necessarily recommending it--I don't know much about it) is to add more oil to the shock then specified. This will cause the shock to hydro-lock before full compression. You can still adjust the N2 pressure to get the amount of shock preload you desire. I've read where some sandrail guys add a little extra oil so the shock hydro-locks early specifically to use them as bump stops.

It does not appear that there is an exterior resevoir. In the future, don't hesitate to ask me for help getting parts and such.

Volt make sure you get a 14" main spring and a 12" tender.
Lower the aluminum collar all the way. Take it for a couple of fairly rough test runs. If the ride is to stiff/firm raise the collar until you like the ride. The ride height is adjusted by the two upper threaded lock rings not the spring stiffness. You will understand the theory better when you get the shocks.

I ordered 12" Main and 12" Tender. This what the shock dude told me I needed. Do you think its gonna work? I just measured the springs that were on factory shock and they were 12" Main and 14" Tender.
And did you change the valving. I had the valving changed and raised the compression one size and left rebound alone.
50/70 i think are the numbers.

It will work but it limits your ride height and main spring adjustment. My fronts have the 2inch longer main spring setup and the rear have the shorter ones. I had the longer main in the rear but was too stiff. On Fri. I sent the 10" main to Polyperformance to exchange, for free, to a lower rate. But as you can see the front, much better setup, spring covers the entire shock. You can see the main spring adjustment on the front has loads of movement but the rear has none.

I got the shocks in this week and finally got them installed today. It wasnt a simple bolt up install. It was not hard but I did have to remove approx. 1/8th inch from bottom of the shock mount bracket on the buggy. The heim on the fox shocks set closer to the shock body than the factory shocks. This caused the body of the shock to hit the bracket before you could align the shock bolt. Then the heim on the shocks was 1/2 diameter where the old shock bolts where 15mm. I bought some bronze flanged bushing that were 1/2 inner dia. and a 5/8 outer dia. 3/4 inch long. I ended up having to shave the outer dia. a few thousanths to get them to fit in factory shock mount hole. Once I got the bolts to fit nice and snug and clearance for the shock body, I just bolted up.
For the ride, OH MAN, What a difference. It is much improved. I could tell right away and now can tell a big difference from the front factory shocks. Now I gotta spend the $$$ for the fronts.
Valving is 50/70
As far as spings I have 275# 12" tender over 350# 14" mains.
My only gripe is the ride height. It sets a little lower than I want but I might be able to raise with preload. I really dont have any preload at the moment. I ran down the top collars until the spring was snug before mounting the shock. I didnt really have a chance to tune any today.
