a little damage

so some wore down brake pads can do a little more damage than just groove your disc. check this out. i was cruzin at about 25mph on packed dirt tapped the brakes to let a person pass by....all i heard was clunk clunk clunk with a slight pull to the left. then i noticed my disc was no longer spining with the rim as its supposed to. i stoped....yeah! the inside brake pad sliped out of place after all the pad was gone so it was just he backing plate and it hit the bolt heads that hold the disc to the hub on the tire and busted them all off. heres what was left in the pics. i hope i dont have to buy a new hub. im going to take the whole wheel assembly to work and try to remove the shanks in our airframe shop.

Wow, dirt, mud and water has taken a toll on your buggy. You should check the bearings while you got it apart.

After riding in those conditions, you should make it a
habit to flush off the brake pad area real good after
you go riding, before it crusts up, that dryed mud is
like grinding compound on those pads.

i do rinse off the brakes during the day and after im done riding. i keep them pretty clear of debrie.

See if you can find some EBC severe duty pads to fit. They last way longer in the mud than the stock stuff.

ive already talked to BIGE about some ebc pads. he has some for my rear but my rear caliper is crapified. leakes past the piston pin diaphram. and he said ebc makes front pads for only one side.....not both pads. so i gotta wait and see if they make anything better.

65, dude, riding hard comes with a price, you either spend time or you spend money, in your case you gonna do both, when I was younger and 4wheeled in pickups and the like, we would spend all week cleaning and inspecting, and replacing the little things, like seals and grease we would pull the front hubs apart just to change the seals the night before we were to run, the result was favoral,as we got a chance to see the bearings and brakes, we did lots of other stuff to like change the trans fluid (gear oil) this let us monitor the internal brake down of the gears, the oil was like new when draining it, but it saved us big dollars in the long run, we also never had to tow it home, as many of our buddies did, they spent money(lots of it) we spent time

dang man... Is there a day that goes by that you are not abusing the beejeezus out of that thing!!!!???!!! lol

Good luck with that brake fix. Pretty easy once you got the parts. I would take the otehr side off as well and go through it to make sure all is copecetic.

Debris can get caught in the worst places and ruin it for you!!!
