I have the Baja reaction 150 from Costco I bought back in Oct.

Long story short... I have been busy with work since the end of Oct. It has slowed down the last 2 weeks. I found a new place to ride and some new friends to go with so I wanted to get my buggy ready.

After my 3+ month break from play I have found I need a new battery. I have also got some test rides in around here. I've been told there are some very nice hills at this new place so I decided I may need a liitle more get up and go. Yesterday before work I ordered 10 gram rollers and yellow spring from Blade. $36.

My next step was to search here for a speedometer. (I'm open for suggestions) I wanted to get a base line speed out of the box to compare with any mods I do.

In my search I came across a thread from the end of November when I was busy hauling all your Christmas packages across the country (UPS semi driver). Wink There was talk of these buggies already having these upgrades from the factory. Surprised

Can I get some confirmation on this? Is blade open on the weekend? Will they cancel my order if it hasn't shipped?

I'm a little tight on cash because I have had a few big purchases lately. I hate to waste money on something I don't even need. I could have put that toward an 8-coil stator. Crap! Mad

That is a very good question. We just bought a Reaction 150 2/10/08, and when we took it out it did fine. Let me explain we have a dune 150 that we replaced the stock rollers with 9g rollers. Some of the trails (sand) that had me and pushing the dune (while stock) the Reaction made through, with a heavier load. Plus i thought the cart did okay on semi sandy hills. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it has 10g rollers, I just thought it did better, on terrain tha bogs you down, than the dune 150 out the box, top end is another story.

Bought Reaction 150 at Costco on 11-20-2007. Just finished doing rollers, clutch spring, CDI with advance with no rev limiter, coil wire and plug, and race variator, uni filter, 1500 rpm spring, and opened up the pipe. Here is what I found: The stock rollers are 10 gram. With the new race variator (larger with steeper ramps) I went down to 8 gram rollers and get up to 32.5 mph on flat ground. I was getting 34 mph stock. But my low end is AWSOME now, compare to stock. I am happy to give up the 1.5 mph for the low end torque. I am not sure what the stock torque spring is but it seems much lighter or softer that the new 1500. Maybe about a 1200-900 stock spring. I live at 3500 feet and just got done checking my plug. I left in the stock 114mm plug and ran the kart hard and then when I was at full throttle I cut the engine. (best was to test plug). The plug was picture perfect. I tried to go to a 122 and it was way to rich. I am going to try going to a little smaller jet to see if I get any better performance before I go white on the plug. I know the 114mm is only good because of my elevation. I highly recommend Stu and Blade. He has been great and a good wealth of knowledge. I was told the next step is a cam but I am going to wait a little while for that one.

I read on bn.com that the new reactions are stock with 10g rollers, like the crissfire 150R. The spring is a factory tension, so the 1500 will be an improvment. As per any other alterations to consider, think about getting a longer chain and a 39t sprocket for the axle. If you havent already, a new filter (eliminate the stock), and performance exhaust or gutted stock will give a pretty big improvment.

When i first got my dune 150, i went with 9g rollers, 128 jet, gutted exahust, uni-filter, and the 1500 lb spring. Worked fine, but being the motorhead, I had to try more!!!

check the link in my sig for my homepage... I have pix and what not of the work up until recently.

Good luck!!!!

John, I basically copied your basic mods for my dune. Gutted exh, uni, 135 main jet, 9g rollers, and 1500 torque spring. Today i took it out for a test, (installed the spring and 135 friday). I really liked the way it climbed the hills, compared to stock, it was attacking the hills, oh I forgot I put 22x11x10 lightfoots, on the back...NOW TO THE POINT....with a 132 jet, uni, gutted exhaust I registered 37mph on the street (up and back), now it 33, and 34mph, that's more than a 10% drop in top end!!! I want this cart to go 40mph+, at the least the 37mph I was getting. WHERE DO I START...I don't want to lose torque. CHIME IN. I know there's a bunch of sharp guys out there...tHAT CAN MY THIS HAPPEN.

Hey John did you get my message about using the Husquvarna foam filter I sent you? For anyone with a 150cc and 1.5" intake on the carb go to the saw shop and pick up the foam filter there, it looks like an all foam uni filter, its cheaper and doesn't require any mods. Just bolts right to the carb. (don't use in wet conditions!). Make sure to soak in oil. Works for a dusty chain saw should work for us. John, how hard was the 39t to put on? I gave it a look and don't see anyway to replace the sproket unless you have a two piece. Also, is it possible to stay with the double chain or do I have to go down to a single? Thanks Guys. The best part about these forums is I don't waist alot on money on mods that don't work. I'll post a picture as soon as I get it off my camera. I did an INDO and rolled back onto my wheels and kept going. Scared the hell out of me but as far as I can tell the only damage was in my shorts. LOL

I'll hafta see about your dual chain sprockets... i didnt do the 39T yet...maybe next week... but I only have the single sprocket. As per MPH... the only way you are going to hit 40 is by loosing your bottom end. you would need heavier rollers, like 13g, and that will bring your speed back up. the 9g rollers are a killer, but not as bad the sliders were!!! I couldnt break 27 mph with sliders!!! lol.. i went right back the the rollers after a couple weeks of that crap!!!! Now I can hit 33-35, but I want 40-45 eventually... I think the cam nees to be different (I have the A10), and some mod to the cylinder...big bore maybe...possibly stroker crank... We'll have to see!!!!

its possible to go with a single chain set up. just need the sprocket and a new chain. I have the 37 tooth double chain setup. that makes a diff in bottom end.

Does anybody know what the stock roller are for the dune 150. I threw mine away, but now with the torque spring i'd like to see if i can get a happy medium. How much of an increase can you expect from the hp cam. I'd be willing to try one if i can get 5 to 6mph. Who has hp cams and did they make a 10% gain on top end???

I think I got a TQ cam. I am happy with the awesome hill climbing ability, but my top speed suffered a bunch from my combo. I believe stock were 12g or 14g, if I remember guy48065 will have to chime in... I think he measured the originals.

I have 9's, but depending how this baby does in its first race, I may go back to an 11 or 12 for the speed. I also want to change the cam to the A12 eventually... i believe that is a more adverse cam package, offereing a bump in HP and TQ as opposed to either or.
