Hi guys,

I got problems ,I still have no fire on my kart.
Here is a list of what I've done. Originally the
kart was running but would cut out on the topend.
So I dumped the tanks cleaned the carb good and put it
back together. Still didn't fix the problem so I figured
it was valves or ignition. Adjusted valves twice no
improvement, then it died all together. Replaced CDI,
Coil, Stator, Ignition switch and battery. ( croaked while
testing kart ) Magnetic pickup tests okay but still no spark.
Does anyone have any ideas, I'm at the end of my rope ?
Has anyone heard of a rectifier causing this problem ?
Last thing I can think of is to replace the pickup and
run some new wires. The thing cranks like crazy but still
won't start.Sad
Bummed out in New Mexico,
Chris

it seems like you have tried a lot of things did you try a new spark plug when checking for fire.also what about the ground wires are they tight making good contact.
i don't know about the rectifier i would like to know the answer to that myself.
good luck pud

The rectifier is only needed for battery charging. You can remove it for troubleshooting purposes.

Yep, fresh plugs twice.
Only thing I haven't replaced is
the pickup. All grounds etc.
look good but I'm looking at
replacing one wire at a time in the
ignition circuit and seeing if get any
results. I thought Glade ort maybe
Kidinme said they had a problem with the
rectifier that effected starting but I could be wrong.
Any suggestions other than what I've tried ?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

I would look for freyed wires that are hot (voltage hot). If one grounds out, then it will mis, in this case (buggy), won't run. Do you have any control modules? If so how about relays? I would also check contact points on the stator... sometimes the stator would come painted on boat motor applications and required a scrub with scotch brite pad or fine grit sand paper.

There are three things you need for fire in the hole and in this order, Air, Fuel, Spark,. put your hand over the carb hole (air filter tube asy removed) and crank it over, does it pull vacumn? did your fingers get fuel on them?, if yes , thats two of three, pull the plug put the wire back on the plug push the side of the plug upagainst the head, not the frame or battery,( its important you use the head as your checking ground), crank it over, did you get a nice blue spark and is it consistant?, if you can answer yes to all three and it still does not fire go back and do it again, check for quantity and quality of the three, one or more is out of balance.
Don't over tech it, for the valves to be a concern something drastic would have had to happen, I'm leaning to a clogged pilot in the idle circut of the carb or bad connection with the coil or plug wire, keep us posted, we can walk you through the "how to" on the quality and quantity's, but first let's isolate the root of the evil.

No Spark

Have cdi and starter relay. The kart cranks
fine. I'll check the stator again this weekend,
I replaced it but don't remember checking for
paint. Not sure if there is a fuse on it somewhere,
havent seen it anywhere if it does. This is on a
250CC perispeed looks just like the original Titan
that awesome buggy sold. Hate to drop the oil and
antifreeze to check the stator. If I'm going to do
that I think I'll replace the magnetic pickup while
I'm in there. It's the only thing I haven't replaced.
Thinking about running a seperate ground from the
block or head to frame then start replacing wires.
Thanks everyone,
Chris
