The best place i found to ride cheap and hassel free is Huron Manistee National Forest. Good selection of trails for beginners to expert riders, Some parts of the trail are a little harry but it was a blast! Its $ 5.00 per week or $ 2.00 per day All sites are primitive but there is an outhouse and a hand pump for water. From Detroit it takes approx. 3 1/2 hrs to get there. Check it out! Also close to Bull Gap in Mio. Laughing

Yeah its a long ride just for a day ride. We usally stay 2 -3 nights its a blast. Theres not much else up there for about 20 -30 miles. Just a small diner and a party store. The gas station burnt down about 5 years ago.I dont know of any mi buggy clubs but I have to get back to SEBMA to see about starting one.

Hi, just noticed your post, check out the DNR Web site for ORV/ATV trails the maps can be hard to read but if you have questions on a trail call a DNR office. I ride in an area about 1 hr. north of you. on the Web site you'll find it in Lake County you have Tin Cup, Lincoln, Manistee and Big O Trails. These amount to about 110 miles and all you need is an ORV tag to ride them. Big O is the only trail for 50" or below vehicles. If you need more info on the exact location let me know and I'll walk you wright to them they are easy to find. But you might want to check on the snow amounts, they've had over 110 inches this winter and you wouldn't want to waste your time. I don't plan on going up there till around April time frame. You also have the Mounds in the Flint area, this is more of a scamble area and can be rough with several water crossings. Again check out the Web site for the DNR there is several there. And if anyone wants to get a MI area club together I'm game. Good Luck

Jerry

Looks like a few of us like to ride in the same area up there. I like MIO, Bull Gap, Tin Cup (been to each once). Have been to Lewiston and Atlanta trails several times & now have a cabin in Atlanta where I plan to spend as many weekends as possible this year.

BTW...Some of us LIKE the mud & water at the Mounds Wink

We here in MI should get a spring ride together we can all meet up and do some riding. I need to test all my new mods before St. Joe's. Let me know who's up for it and when would be a good weekend!

The wife didn't care too much for the water at about 20mph, don't know why. As for a spring ride sounds good to me as long as its not a work weekend which are every other, gotts to paythe bills. 48065 not too far away from 48079 neither is romeo (20 miles).
