When I pulled my CVT cover off after the first time of use I noticed some damage inside of my cover. It looks like the belt has been hitting the bottom and top of my cover for about an inch and a half on the clutch side right before it gets wide. It is just a couple of scrapes but it cant be normal. Any ideas?
Jason

Jason,

Now that I have had the Spyder 250 for a few days, I came back to read this post. Interestingly enough, my muffler is bolted to a frame, and does not have a flex connector.

Also, my kart apparently HAS NO FUEL FILTER -- all of the problems we have had so far have been related to bits of junk getting into the carb.

I installed a fuel filter today, so hopefully that little problem is behind us.

Do you have pictures of where the gear oil drain and fill points are? I noticed you said you had to remove half the components from the passenger side to get to them. I would like to change the gear oil, but I'd like to be a little clearer on what it involves. Thanks!

I think there are a couple posts here that show exactly where the fluids go. I used them to learn how to service mine.

If you cannot find them I will post some pictures for you.

Have you decided what fluids you are going to use? After the first change most of us are running synthetics.

I will be doing the same. During my chat with Eric @ mcdonough powersports, he recommended Mobil 1 or royal purple, so I will likely go with the one of these I can find locally.

I have seen the pictures of the CN250 gear oil spots, with the drain bolt right under the clutch, and the fill bolt right above it to right. Is this the one you are thinking of? I actually haven't taken the CVT cover off yet to look at things in there yet.

I just got confused on the gear oil because the Spyder has an external gearbox for FNR, and there appears to be an obvious drain bolt on the very bottom of it, but I don't know where the fill would be if that were the case.

I can post pictures of the external gearbox if needed, but I thought since Jason has already done his, he could straighten me out on the issue.

I also used the pictures on here to find my drain and fill bolts. The main reson i had to remove so much stuff is to get enough room to get my bottle of gear oil to the fill hole. After removing the CVT cover the bolts are rather easy to find. I would love to post some picks but I dont have a camera to do so. If you need farther help after removing the cover just let me know. The locations you previously minsioned are correct. Both the drain and fill bolts are next to the clutch. I have not changed and fluid in my FNR yet nor do i know if even has fluid to be changed. I just been consintrating on getting it to a reliable state of condition. I have talked to the tech guys at ALLNEWPOWERSPORTS.COM and they have know idea why it is chewing up belts. I noticed that even with my new belt when i constantly pump the gas my belt bounces about an inch off of it normal bath witch would explain the scrape marks inside the case. So I wont be doing that anymore. If anyone needs any more help just send me a message.
Jason

Thanks Jason, that does clear up my confusion. No need for pictures if the drain/fill are the ones by the clutch, there are some GREAT pictures already posted that I have seen. I'll check it out when I have the CVT open to add the springs.

Did anyone else with the Spyder 250 have issues with the routing of the front brake lines?

The way the brake lines were run on mine, the lines would rub on the tires when the tires were turned all the way one direction. I had to pull the front brake lines off and re-route them properly.

After installing the mods on the Spyder, it will take off!

The picture below was the result of an accident, I didn't mean to do it, honest!

The Spyder is a big, heavy buggy, and I'm a big, heavy guy, but it will move!
