Just start heading towards the northeast, when you hear the loud meows just drive up and dig in.

Here is a closer pic of the back, hope it helps. It was taken when the buggy was brand new out of the crate and I first put it together. The complete motor and trans is literally a clone, if not an original Polaris 500 motor from the Predator. The rear end, I have no idea what its from. I've been told it looks like VW CV's.

To all who are wondering about my screen name, its just a funny joke that has stuck with me for a while....no, I don't eat any cats, sorry!

That is a nice looking setup...

Okay, how much did you have to pay for it?

You know we could pull a reverse china-engineering feat and see if we can get the parts sourced out ourselves. The engine/tranny setup is really nice looking.

Is that a locking rear diff?

Also, how are the welds on the frame?
That will tell us more about where it originated.

That's a really good design for the rear end. It looks like it has an eccentric bearing carrier to adjust chain tension just like a Honda ATV. If I could have found something like that, I would have bought it. You can get a ton of hop-up parts for the Polaris engine, and it's already fast out of the box.

I figured with a 500cc, it would go faster than 60,
must be geared low, what size sprockets do you have?

Mosts of the welds on the frame are actually pretty good. It looks like that this frame was a standard production frame, then modified here and there with brackets, tabs etc. to accomidate the manuall trans, clutch, different engine, oil cooler, etc. and those after the fact welds are pretty sloppy. I've cut many things off with my grinder and re-routed many things to clean it up. No its not a locking diff, it has a speed sensor in the middle. The diff is not a diff, its permanently locked. Works great for traction, not great on the road or making tight low speed turns.

It has the factory polaris predator 500 14 tooth sprocket on the front, and a 46 tooth on the rear. I actually ordered a 12 tooth sprocket for the front and put it on yesterday and there is too much chain slop with that, I am trying to figure out what to do to fix that. I don't think there is enough slack to remove a link and with this rear end there is no adjustment for chain tension. It takes a standard 64 link chain perfectly with the "factory" sprockets. I bet geared down, it would actually go faster than the 65 mph mark because when I'm on level ground flat out in 5th gear, the engine can't make it up in to the upper RPMs where lots more power is. Also when I'm in 1st gear I think its too fast and needs to be lower.
