I just got my desertkart tunable muffler in yesterday and Im gonna throw it on today and try it out... I have some quick questions before I start..kinda dumb... which way does the end cap of the disc stack go, concave in or out? Im guessing in...?
Also whats a good number of discs to start with? It came with twelve and the end cap... anyone with experience with this exhaust could help me out please, that would be great
If it'll fit the same, I would flip it around the other way myself.....and I don't remember where I heard the 100cc/disc thing from.... _________________ "Three can keep a secret if two are dead"

it coincides with my experience with My desert kart tunable muffler. I have the larger one, and am running 6 discs to pick up some low end torque for low speed climbing ability.
Now that I have the low range transmission, I will probably put it back up to 8 discs. This range gave us the best overall performance.
4 discs would spin the rear wheels on pavement, but then would fall on its face
Hope this helps.

thanks for all the help guys, I will be starting with 8 discs then and go each way to experiment a little. guess I will just leave the end cap how I have it pictured above, it seems like thats how its supposed to seat, with the 'hump' inside the muffler, making a 'bowl' outside on the end.
laymansm - did you run the end cap the same way I have it pictured or did you do the opposite way like showa?
Remember, the 1-disc/100cc is a rule-of-thumb to start with. You may find better performance using more or less discs. _________________ Chris Dierkens

PS...you will notice that there is a screw missing. The pressure will strip the screws in a very short time. Do not plan on spending to much time experimenting or you could be drilling things out
And that was after I switched to stainless steel screws.
I am seriously thinking about buying a second muffler so I have one at 6 discs for rock crawling and one at 8 for running hard and fast.
They clamp on to the pipe, and there cheap enough to have two. It would make for a fairly quick change over. I am thinking drag races and hill climbs at the Rally in St. Joe's
Make sure you increase the jet size for optimum performance.

ok I was wondering about the words 'spark arrestor' and whether it went inside or out.... thanks for setting me straight
sounds like I will be running 8 or maybe 7 discs most the time, most the driving I do so far has been hard and fast, at sea level. but now that I have alot more torque from the K&N, rejett and manual secondary, I will probably try 6 disc and do some real cinder volcano climbing.
I plan to cut back the stock pipe and put the muffler in place of the part cut out so it ends roughly the same length overall as the stock pipe originally was. also going to grind of the stock brace and reweld it farther back on the pipe.
