I have a slightly different take, my wife wanted my daughter to get a job and pay for gas, ins , car etc.

We ended up giving her our old car...she earned it with grades (has had it for a year, but still no liscense)

I told her if she kept her grades up I will pay for Gas etc.

My theory....she has to come to me EVERY TIME she want gas to go somewhere...I get to ask, where are you going, when will you be back, who will be with you Cool Very Happy

If she has her own car and gas money it is just ... see ya later dad Shocked

Chris

TH.... I dont need to clean my room!!!! I dont sleep in it!!! Im married!!! lol... The couch on the other hand.... ummmmmm.... ANYWAY!!!! lol

I def like the approach of grades and asking about everything... Getting into their business is what parents should do... Roketa Hater... did you read about the girls who drove their buggy up and down the street at top speed and ran over a woman???? Think of what those girls parents are going through, and what they could have avoided if they were a little more strict, or a little more involved than throwing the keys and saying "have fun!"

You werent too far off of that by driving up a driveway at full speed and tipping... Like we all said, thank god only inanimate objects broke, but it could have been much worse... Take it easy... I hope my kids will tell me if soemthing bad happens and we can fix it together....

Dont take the easy way out because it is easy now..... It wont be easy later...

No free rides here, I bought my own car that my dads friend towed home for me. I was a proud owner of a 1976 mustang 2 4cyl, 4 speed, that need a cluch and preasure plate. Got my baby up and running (used more oil than gas) and on my way. I payed for the whole nine yards, gas, insurance ect. Now my daughter is asking me for a car.....Well Smile Sure I told her, Im going to buy me a new (used) Toyota pick up and you can drive mine (1993 beat up sidekick) when you get a job so you can save your money and buy your own. I offered to pay insurance and plates. Only because she is a straight A student so she already knows what it means to work hard and I think deserves a reward from me and mom. As long as she keeps up the good grades, in the end she will be the one who benifits most in life and hopefully become (as well as here 2 sisters) more than I could ever be.

ok this has not been a good day. last week got all the buggy's ready for the southeast buggy gang meet this week end. parked them in the garage, my Daughter had some friends over. ( I am in the shop working ) she asked if they could go for a ride. sure be careful.

well they got back and parked them back in the garage, I finished up in the shop, oped the door to the garage and both my wifes buggy and my 250 were so muddy you could not tell what color they were. Shocked how they found mud in a drought I dont know.

so ok fine they had fun. left the store early today to clean them back up, my wifes started running ruff so parked it by the pressure washer, got in my 250 ( wondering why they backed it in ) put it forward and nothing Shocked tried again, nothing, adjusted the linkage, nothing. come to find out the boy that was driving it did a neutral start Evil or Very Mad

so now I have no buggy for tomorrow and have to replace the shift fork and gears. Censored! Censored!

I feel for ya BIGE, We have a new rule called "Boys dont ride my damb buggy". Kind of hate to be that way but seen first hand that boys/girls loose the minds and just act stupid.

I have found I can choke my son Robbie until he turns blue and then his brain kicks in and he's OK for a month or so. Not dark blue or purple, just a medium shade of blue Wink
