My Dad has a 800cc buggy dubed "baja" by the seller, he uses it primarily for the dunes but we do some cruising around in the hills too. He got a set of sand tires front and rear which greatly improved his dune experience Razz.
Even though we have a tire machine Changing from sand to dirt/mud and back is too much hassle.
Sofar we havn't been able to find another set of 12" wheels in 6 lug and he realy wants a set of dougless red labels. so I'm thinking about making some adapters for his buggy.

I'm wondering if other people have had a hard time finding wheels? I have acess to various machines (Manual and CNC)I can just make a set of one off on a manual machine, or.... it takes a little longer but I could make a program to duplicate our adapters so other folks can get some wheel options too.

any info or intrest?

Do you mean adapters so we can run different lug spreads? maybe even 5 lug? I imagine alot of people who dune on here would be interested in that.

I havent tried finding rims but then again I only ride one terrain type, dirt and mud.

Develop an estimated price based on a fixed number of runs. Do this for several run numbers and see what kind of response you get...

Example:

5 sets = $10/set
6 sets = $9/set
7 sets = $8/set

1 set = 2 adapters or 4 adapters

I may be wrong but most of the 800cc buggys with 12" rims that are available, have only 4 lugs and are metric 115 pattern. A 6 lug, seems to me, may be a very large diameter for for this pattern. It is deffinetly 6 lug?

Jojano,
Since we are in the same part of the country,I called and talked to Greg (west Coast) He gave me the same info.

My Dad says all the pictures he's seen of these buggys have 6 lugs who knows perhaps the picture he's seen on the net is a picture of His buggy just passed around a lot Shocked

Actually the Point of this post:

If My dad's buggy is rare and unique then I'm not going to take the time to gear up to make more if nobody else wants some, Or if there are people out there that have the 6 on 4.5" boltpattern and want wheel options then we wanna hear from you.

BTW I'M planing to use the polaris Bolt pattern 4x156mm to keep the weight down.

I love wheel options. Can you make a 12 x 10 - 4 x 115 wheel.

How does bolt pattern affect weight? Does the Polaris have the largest hub hole?

I think I'd choose 4/110mm. Seems everyone makes adapters and rims to fit that old Honda pattern.

He's not from any "company" he's just thinking about making some adapters for his father and in doing was wondering if anyone else would be interested and if so, what size should he make.

I agree, the 4x110 seem to be very popular.

Yes I'm not from any company.
I was just gonna make some adaptors for my Dad .
I agree the 4 on 110 bolt pattern would probably be best ( My rhino uses that pattern)
I'm working with a 6 on 4 1/2" pattern that pattern leaves practically no room in between the lugs for a four lug pattern plus It would require thick material like a spacer.
Most of the wheels that use the big 4 on 156 bolt pattern have huge center holes.

I'm thinken the adapter can be made out of a square plate with the 4 on156mm (about 6 3/8") bolt spread outside of the 6 on 4 1/2" spread so I could use 3/8" or 12 mm 5083 or 6061 aluminum plate.

hopefully this way between wheel and adaptor there will the least amount of added material = the least amount of added weight.
