I was on youtube.com & found this amazing video.
I never thought you could ride your dune in the winter snow.
I emailed the poster to find out how I can do it to mine.

Anyway here is the video.

It's okay... I would think that it would go better with skis on the front.

That's possible since the tread would have little surface area contact on a hard surface. Most likely the tread material also is not as soft as a tire and will not grip well on pavement. You can see the over steer with the tracks on the front when watching the video. There was one point where the buggy was going straight while the front tracks were cocked to one side...

I noticed that as well as was wondering, "Is that more a function of the track not being powered, the geometry of the front end, or a combination of both?"

In a 4-wheel drive, the front tracks would pull the vehicle in the direction they are pointed. With only rear drive and a locked rear, the tracks will try to push the vehicle straight until the front can grab something to overtake rear traction.

I spoke to Bill at Hammerhead Canada & he told me it's a prototype and that they are going to have a full working version available for sale in Feb sometime. He also said they will have Track kit's for the new 400 & the 500 Titan UTV. He said thats all the snow they had at the time but it would go through much deeper. The tracks he said would keep you on most if the Snow and stop your machine from sinking. These are winter tracks only he said and they also have tracks for other applications. He says they will retail for around 4K
