I just put on my new trail tech speedometer. For some reason it is not working right. When I hook it up directly to the battery on the buggie the tachometer stoped working. The tachometer works fine when it running off the battery in the computer only and as long as both wires are wriped around the plug wire. When I hooked up the tachometer and wraped one wire around the plugwire and the other to ground it did not work. When I unhooked the ground wire it started working again. It dose the same thing when it is hooked to the buggies battery. Is their any body out there that has installed one of these vapor speedometers that could tell whats wrong. I bought it from blade. I called blade and talked to a women yesterday. She said someone would call me back. They did'nt so I sent an e-mail and got no responds. I call again today and left a message. I really wanted to get it working this weekend so me and my little girl could go riding.
http://trailtech.net/vapor.html i bought one from blade also and had problems with mine. i ended up having to send it back to trailtech and 5 weeks later they sent me a new one? i would just call trailtech. even though it took awhile to get mine they were helpful and someone did always answer the phone and gave me the status of mine.. they were shorthanded at the time. so u may not have that problem if u have to send it back....
I finally got it working today. I checked the wireing with a voltmeter to make sure there was power going to the computer from the battery on the buggie. I had nothing. I unpluged the tach and checked it. It had power. I had the tach pluged into power and the power pluged into the tach. "Duh" The plugs and wire for the tach and power are the same. Easy to mixed up. After switching the wires it works fine. I ran the wires through wire loom from the dash to motor before I hooked them up.That is how I got them mixed up. I did hook the tach to the coil in stead of wraping around the plug wire. Thanks for the help guys! Dose anybody know what temps to program in the computer? Its a GY6.

I'd run it around before setting the temps to get an idea what "normal" is for your buggy. The temp gage only goes to about 240F or so and on a hot day w/ a hard run I bang up against it a lot w/ my 125. That makes the temp warning lights useless on the GY6, at least when set to Fahrenheit. I called trail tech about it and they told me they set it up that way because of memory limitations in the computer. The tech sugested I set the temp to Centigrade because it'll read to 240C, which I'm sure is enough to melt it. I haven't been able to find anybody that can tell me what normal or hot is. Best I can tell you is set to C, run the weewee out of it on a warm day and see how hot you can get it. I would then check your plug and make sure you are not lean. I would then set the warning 2-3 degrees above your hottest observed temp, and the danger a couple of degrees higher than that. Keep in mind that 1 degree C is about 2.2 F. If you ever find out what the actual limits are you can reprogram, and by all means, post the info! _________________ 05 Jehm Adventure Buggy 250cc, Torque Spring, 22.5gr Rollers, Modified Roll Cage, K&N, 21x7x10 & 22x11x10 Trac Star Radials, Vapor, Body Panels, 40T Spkt
