Here's a side shot of the (almost) finished buggy. Suzuki GS250 powered, independent toy.

That has come a long way since March. Are you going to put the side panels back on it? Looks awesome. How does it run?

Hi Jabo.

I will be putting something on for mud protection, haven't quite decided whether to use the existing side panels yet. I have since added a hood section from some aluminum diamond plate I had in the garage. Seems to run pretty good although with the snow I don't have alot of space to ride around in. I have to rejet the carbs due to the extended airbox hookup. Jets arrived yesterday so looks like a good project for this weekend. Sure is fun building and breaking these things!

Thanks Frank. It had become an obsession for awhile! Almost finished. A bit of jetting to work out and some details to tend to.
Had it out today on the snow packed down by local snowmobiles and it went awesome! Suspension worked as hoped. Can't wait to try it in the dirt.
Here's a side shot.

Nice job! Looks awesome!
What kind of plans did you follow? Did it cost alot to build?

No plans on this one. My neighbor had a suspended go cart that I took a few measurements off of then made it to my specs. It has
been through a few rebuilds...from 125 2 stroke with a swingarm rear to the GS250 with full independent. It held up well with the swingarm rear but suspension wise it just didn't work...to much weight to move. I figure I'm probably into it for around 1500-1800. Many parts from ebay! I think I may try to find a good GS450 or 500 for it. The lower end is the same and it's a bolt in upgrade!

The GS450 engine is a great motor. i had a 1981 GS450E tweaked to run 130 MPH on flats. The open frame would catch way too much air and make the the front shake like crazy, but the engine just screamed. I put over 60K miles on the engine before the the timing chain snapped and cracked the head. Guys on bikes with twice the displacement were shocked when I would catch up to them on straights. They had me in the turns - I couldn't put a big enough tire in the frame to handle the speed I was making...

That's a nice machine. Does it have reverse? Also where do you ride it at? We CT and MA guys have got to get together one of these days.
