I searched all over for a high performance clutch for my 1100 when I had it apart last year - I figured it would be a good idea to upgrade it before the turbo install. Couldn't find a thing and the three clutch specialty shops I took it to just gave me a blank stare and a shake of the head.
So far it has worked OK with the turbo - no clutch stink after hard runs - but it really would be nice to have a HP option. Please post if anyone has a solution.
The 1100's and newer Joyner 800's are all Chery/Acteco engines. Nothing in the US uses these except the import buggies. My 800 as well as the earlier Joyners were all Suzuki F8B based.
The Sprint and Metro were rebranded Suzuki's so it is quite possible that some parts swap over between different Suzuki engine lines. Their street bike engines allowed me to mix many two and four cylinder engine parts. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250

Has anyone looked into having the clutch disc resurfaced? I had to have my clutch for my Porsche 944 turbo rebuilt and the company that did it in Missouri charge 100.00 to resurface it. The old head tech guy said they would use a blended surface on the disc and replace the springs. The material they used was also used on performance car clutches they built for race application.
The 800 clutch can be re-lined/surfaced IF they have material sizes that will fit. I spoke with a shop today that feels it can be done but they will have to see it first. If they have material in the correct dimensions it will be no problem. They have all the high performance linings so we'll see. They are fairly positive they will have something for it.
I have to pull the clutch and bring it down there. I'll probably have it to them by the end of the week. Once I get the information I'll post it here.

Ya, Mick I also have a shop in my area that can do it,
they said even if the ceramic material is thicker than stock they would put it on my disc and machine it down to the proper thickness. I do have two extra clutches and I think I'll have them done.

Is there anything that can be done about the pressure plate to give it more grab? It has "fingers" for springs, right? Probably not much you can do to improve that, huh? _________________ LJ Tech 1100cc Sand Sport -- Working the bugs out...

Unfortunately, you can't increase the clamping load on a diaphragm type clutch. It's like a bellvue washer. The metal has a certain spring tension to it and you get what you get. Possibly re-heat treating it or maybe even a cryo treatment could alter the tension, but to what extent and for what cost?
