Just bought my new GK28 yesterday and got it all together, what is the best run time to properly break in the engine and transmission before changing out the fluids??? It is a Roketa 150cc
Some would say at least 1 tank full of gas. Just take it easy for about the first 2 minutes. _________________ Custom Buggy http://www.buggynews.com/topic13417.html

I've read a lot of different opinions. There is a thread here that goes through these. I think Kell wrote it. It is very helpful.
I took it easy on my cyclone (GK29) for the first tank before stepping it up. However, I did change out the fluids after about 1 hour of run time. I recommend changing the fluids quickly because you may find some foreign debris. I found foreign debris (not too much) in both of my karts at that first change.
The second change on the cyclone was clean. I have not done the second change on the 19 yet. _________________ cyclone250 (GK-29, shaft drive)

Sliders and rollers to come!
I changed the fluids before I even started mine. I don't trust that white oil. Then again about every couple hours or so. _________________ Custom Buggy http://www.buggynews.com/topic13417.html

Some of the camp that you should run it initially like you plan on running it over the life of the buggy.
Other's take a baby-step approach to it.
Either way, I'd recommeend that you change the fluids in it several times right off the bat. The first one I like to do before the oil changes color.
Also, I would think that you'd want to put it through it's paces in order to make certain that any of those week items show themselves before the warranty expires.
Have fun,

I took it easy on the buggy for like 2 hours - 5 hours...changed the oil, synthetic only.... ever since then, I change the oil every 2 rides, or every 10 hours, whatever comes first... synthetic, mobile 1, 10W40 all the time!!!
We have two Sahara 250's,
They are now about 4 and 5 months old each,,
We warmed em up for about 3 minutes, and then its been flat out ever since,,,,
I have a plan to do our first change of the oils and do my 17g slider and 2000 clutch spring mod at the same time.
We have Probably run 10 + tanks of fuel through the beast's so far, so its time for a change.
Rip it up

Its a combination of all the above. IMO the main thing to concern yourself with is getting rid of the junk/factory oil right off the bat and don't push it too hard for the first tank of fuel. Utilize this time to learn how it handles and brakes. _________________ DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!!!!!!
