I have been reading alot on this forum lately and I was planning on opening up the intake and exhaust on my 800cc. from what I have gathered if I do that I must re jet the carbs correct? Ive also read some threads on pple rejetting the stock carb and getting some power... so my question is which is better, rejetting the stock carb or just buy a weber carb? and If I do get a weber, does the jets on that have to be adjusted? I would prefer some advice from those with experience with one or the other, or both... thanks in advance

Never found a reason to junk the stock carb, they run good with a little work .042 primary and .089 secondary. After you drill the jets the best mod is manual secondary's and dump the non working vacuum pot. Get yourself a good header.

great info thanks.
but it doesnt really answer my main question, is a Weber better performing than a modified (rejetted) stock carb?

And there is more details I would like to know....Is the Weber actually any larger ports? does the weber need to be re-jetted too? Besides adapter plate and cable resize what other mods are needed (if any) for Weber setup?

what is manual secondary? Im new to carbs, Im coming from world of EFI cars.....
As for the vacuum pot, I can just remove it? no other modifications needed?

Where can I get a good header? definitely interested...

Sorry for so many Q's but Im learning.... Confused

I personally havent seen a big gain from aftermarket carbs on these 800 engines.
If you are going to shave ,port and polish the head, change cam, header, ignition mod's and so on, I could start to see a benifit from a bigger or better carb.
If you are just going to do a header and intake mod I see no gain over the stock carb . You can stuff only so much air and fuel thru a head that has a stock .300in. lift cam.
It all depends on what model of Webber carb you are looking at to know how big the ports are and what jetting.
The "pot" is a vacume chamber that actuates the second "large" butterfy in the carburator when you are at full throttle, they dont work very well in this application. You will need to make or buy the manuel linkage after removing the pot.
Questions are always welcome ,thats what this forum is for.
I do sell hi perf parts if you need prices you can e-mail me at

I was looking at the weber 32/36 for suzuki samurai on Ebay. Is that carb too big?

more info? is there a DIY somewhere in the Forum perhaps?...

thats all they are? is there even a longer duration/higher lift cam available?

Port and polishing the runners in the head - is it pretty straight forward or are there some 'tricks'?
Will port matching the stock manifolds provide any tangible benefits?

Wow I seemed to have hijacked my own thread and got way off topic... Rolling Eyes Laughing

I have not seen any performance cams for sale. We had Crower cam's on here for a while and they were guaging interest, have not heard from them in a while.

Mike at 3 tech will do a regrind for you.

Good luck

Chris

I do not know it off hand. If you do a search on this site for Mike Cove or 3 tech you will probably get a lot of valuable info. Mick aka Ma0990 had him do the regrind and port and polish the head.

He specializes in hopping up 3 cyl suzuki motors.

Well, I was referring to mike cove at 3 tech...as in 3 cyl. suzuki motor.

However, Mick has become quite the specialist as well Laughing
He has done the cam regrind, weber carb, header and exhaust, wiring, fire wall, shocks, tires, and.....nitrous Twisted Evil

...and I am sure I have not remembered it all Wink

Chris

PS. He is also the one who found the suzuki engine manual that is posted on the site for the 800cc
