My guess is there was enough torque on the chain to flex the axle or engine tensioner. As soon as there is a reduction in engine torque, the slack allows the chain to jump.
I forgot about the axle flex...

I suspect it was the bar the chain tensioner bolted to. Over the course of a couple of months it would bend into a U shape. I would use a floor jack to bend it back. The last time I straightened it I had Cole muffler weld a square tube under the bar. It hasn't moved or popped since.
i see what you mean im4seven that wright there could cause a man problems thats just one more thing for me to keep an eye
i say that piece has to take alot of torque
thanks for the info

that is a heck of a weld job!!! I only know of one other person that did that kind of work to their swing arm!!!! TH has some experience with metal fatigue!!! lol...
Yes, very good fix for your swingarm problem. I'll add one more person to the list who had problems with their swingarm, and that was Mully. Repairs made and all good _________________ DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!!!!!!

Never had a problem w/ it the first couple of years. I don't know if it was fatigue or if changing to the 38 tooth sprocket caused it. You know what they say, if you improve one area, you'll highlight a weakness in another! _________________ 05 Jehm Adventure Buggy 250cc, Torque Spring, 22.5gr Rollers, Modified Roll Cage, K&N, 21x7x10 & 22x11x10 Trac Star Radials, Vapor, Body Panels, 40T Spkt

As this seems to be the place for hill climb videos, here's a clip from late this summer at the Tuttle Creek OVR north of Manhattan, KS. It's Brian and Donnie making a run up one of the steeper hills (yes - we have hills in Kansas!).

I wouldn't have thought you would have a hill that steep in Kansas! I sure wouldn't be following that close going up a rocky hill though. Those rocks don't look real tastey! _________________ 05 Jehm Adventure Buggy 250cc, Torque Spring, 22.5gr Rollers, Modified Roll Cage, K&N, 21x7x10 & 22x11x10 Trac Star Radials, Vapor, Body Panels, 40T Spkt
