We just recently found out that the performance and stock CDI that was a direct match-up on 100% of the 150cc gy6 based engines will not work on 2 models. The new Manco Helix 6150 and the TJ GT200 are using a different style CDI. It is easily identifiable if you have both CDI styles in hand, and I will post a picture soon. looking at the electric schematic the wiring is virtualliy identical with a single wire exception.
Anyway, we just wanted everyone to know, but it will work on all of your other Karts...

Thanks for the heads-up. I was thinking of getting a Performance CDI for my Yerf-Dog, I wonder if I'll run into problems with that? I hope not...

You wont, people who have dune's and crossfire's have used them, your buggy had a few different CDI's on it before mark put the stock one back on. _________________ '04 Manco 906c
NO, Yerf's are good.
I really don't want to give the wrong impression, we have sold thousands of these CDI's, it isn't a problem with our CDI's, it is a new style of CDI that is being used only on the 2 Buggies Mentioned above.....
The same problem will hapen with any aftermarket CDI currently on the market and these 2 karts. If we find any others with this "different" CDI I will let you know......

Do you know if the CDI on the Twister 150SS is different as well? I recall when the SS was first released one of the selling points was an upgraded electrical system for better performance. Wes from TJ powersports posted on here that the CDI was different and wouldn't work on other buggy's. Just wondering in case I ever decide to try an after market CDI.
we have seen many of the CDI's used on the 150ss from twister, it seems to only be this one style engine that they are using with the gt200. If anybody has direct knowledge or information about why they made this change I would be very curious. From what I have seen, there is no advantage to the way they wired it, and I wonder why they would change on this one engine.

Is there any way to re-wire the manco gy6 to make a performance cdi work? I already have the cdi and my manco's out of warantee so I'll try it if someone has a clue what I need to change.
We've had this discussion before, as I also have the ASW / GT200 buggy and was wondering the same thing. Take a look near the end of this thread for the information you are looking for.

Standard warnings apply naturally, as the suggested modification looks like it should work just fine, but I have not done it myself yet. _________________ American Sportworks 7150 & Lance Charger 150 --:The Other Buggies:-- "Um yes, these are modified, why?"
I am sure that there is a way, but I could not tell you how to do it. We have been getting a ton of calls on this. the rev limit seems to be fairly low on these Buggies that have a different CDI

I just posted a reference to "The Way" (to convert the GT200 / ASW 6150 & 7150 DC triggered CDI wiring to the more common AC wiring).
pgruby posted it during a discussion in that other thread. _________________ American Sportworks 7150 & Lance Charger 150 --:The Other Buggies:-- "Um yes, these are modified, why?"
