I had the samething happen to me. I had to put on a return spring, I found a bolt or nut under the carb and then hooked it to the carb. It is sticking so that means rust! Get a new cable!!!! mine broke 5 mins in to a 3 day campout! Just try to find a cable! when you are camping! We could not ride the 3 days!!!

hi i lube these cables about 3 times a year. In 1500 miles i never had a problem. The throttle cable i disconnet from carb duct tape as high as it will to the frame behind seat. I went to the feed store bought a horse syringe and small dia. needle. Pull the plunger out of the syringe insert it between the cable housing and the cable. Fill the syringe with 3-1 oil let sit for few hours if the oil hasn't run out the other end fill again till it does. Most times 1 try does it . I do the same for the clutch.A lot cheaper than the fancy kit. I have one of those to. I also have a larger return spring on the carb. Beware don't stick yourself with the needle lol ghosthunter

I think a sticky throttle is the first sign that the cable is fraying. I had the same symptom prior to my cable failing. If you mask the problem with a heavier spring, you may end up stuck somewhere with a broken cable.

I agree with you, i feel you should lub the cable when its in good condition then install a automotive return spring. The cable is almost 6 feet long, the coil return spring on the stock carb is marginal at best. The return spring on the webber is even weaker. The extra spring makes the gas pedal just little stiffer but more positive and seems to always return to idle at same rpm. Ghosthunter
