I certainly think it would be worth a try. Have you given any thought to relocating the radiator and putting it in a location where it is not so easily subject to damage?

Your mod is fine. It is no different than a grill on a car. It will allow more air to flow than the fan can move. Van has a good idea about moving the radiator to a safer location.

Let me add if you relocate the radiator to be over your head, be double sure to be in such a fail safe way that if a hose springs a leak it will not leak hot engine coolant all over you or your passenger. That would make for a bad day out on the trail.

I dont want to relocate because i think it will get annoying that close to my head plus the heat would be on the back of my head im going to powder coat it and give it a try. Thanks for the advice.

The older models didn't come with a grille back there? They must have corrected it because my 2007 has one on there.

On a side note, I saw you removed the stock air box. What size tubing did you use to connect the UNI? Anything I need to be aware of when doing this?

Thanks.

I used 2 1/4 inch metal Conduit because my brother is an electrician and i get it FREE. It was an easy mod and i got a good bit of power from it. Im now thinking of running it up through the rack. Hope this helps any other question just ask.
