To all riders in the Harford County MD area please check out this link. I noticed it on the KidNme dealers website. Your rights to ride are in serious danger.

www.rideinharford.org

I copied a small sample of what was written on the site.

Here it is in a nutshell:

Here is basically what the bill says...If you ride a 2 wheeler, 3 wheeler, or 4 wheeler that is not registered for the street and your yard is less than 5 acres in size you will receive a $250 dollar fine! Yes, you read that correctly, you ride it on YOUR OWN PROPERTY and you get a fine of $250.00 !!!

Oh, don’t worry, there’s more… If your 6 year old son or daughter wants to ride their new little 50cc 4 wheeler that you bought them for Christmas on your own property, you don’t just get a fine… The vehicle gets impounded! Yep, anyone under the age of 18 years of age who gets caught riding on their OWN PROPERTY gets their vehicle impounded plus the parents get a fine! So, if you are at work and your 12 year old wants to ride the Z50 around the yard for while, this bill gives the Police the right to trespass onto YOUR PROPERTY and confiscate YOUR personal property, fine you, and then make you pay a big dollar tow bill.

Also, if your 17 year old son wants to load firewood into the cart connected to your little Honda Recon 250 and the cops drive by and spot it...Uh Oh! They trespass onto YOUR PROPERTY and confiscate YOUR personal property, fine you, and then make you pay a $250 dollar tow bill. Yep, that’s right, you have to pay to have your Off-Road Vehicle towed away, plus pay storage fees, plus your fine. Let’s do the math here… $250 fine, plus $250 tow bill, plus any daily storage charges (usually $25.00 a day)…So, you’re at least $500 in the hole just to ride on YOUR OWN PROPERTY

No way the ACLU let's this go. I'm a Republican, but maybe someone should get in touch with them and let them know that the citizens in Harford County, MD are losing freedom. What's next, you can't grow a garden. God forbid you should be playing wiffle ball in your back yard. Someone could get grass stains on their jeans sliding into the Frisbee which represents 3rd base.

This is enough to make you want to move out west... Okay it's not that bad.. but you get my point.

Move to Georgia. There is an abundance of land here that you can do whatever you want on. Laughing

The good people affected by this law need to band together and turn things around before it's too late! Maybe the County Commissioners need some of their constituent's pickiting on their front yard. This kind of overregulation has got to stop!

Moving away is not an option. It will only give government more encouragement to violate rights of those who live in Harford. Georgia maybe safe for now but it only takes one election to change the local politics which often spread to the Feds.

Things like this should be taken very serious.[/quote]

I believe the meeting is on Oct 9th in Belair, MD.
The outcry over this bill has been immense!
Our belief here is that one powerful person has had a problem with ATV riders and is using her power to make HER life better!
I don't think it will pass due to the thousands of emails they've been sent! If worse comes to worse, anyone want to get on the news?
I say we all ride our karts up to city hall and block traffic on Tues night!
If anyone would like to help, visit our home page and click on the link. It will send an email to the county opposing this bill! we could use all the emails we can get!
Thanks!
Power to the buggiests!!!!!

Hey Tom does it matter if the emails come from non residents. I'll be happy to do my part with email and phone calls but I live in PA so I don't know if that will help.

Welcome to our world out here in Kalifornia. A county ordinance like this has passed already in San Bernandino County. Basically bans OHV riding on your own property and if have more then ten people over for a party, family gathering you need a permit.
