I have a Kinroad 250cc that has had problems starting since I bought it. I am thinking of replacing the carburetor with a 32mm manual choke style carb to improve starting and performance. It looks like I will have to modify the accelerator cable at the carb end to coneect to the new carb.

Has anyone replaced their carb with a 32mm manual choke? Will I also need to replace the intake manifold and air cleaner box for better performance? Any suggestions on the parts to use and where to buy them? Thanks!

Here are pictures of what I did to modify the carb to fit the cable.

I also shimmed up the manual choke since it doesn't actually come with the manual part installed; just the needle and spring.

Can someone identify this carburetor? I dont know much about the different types. Id this a slider with a manual choke? The ones I have seen have the cable entering the carburetor from the top. Thanks.

That is a Keihin carb that is pictured. Instead of having to replace the carb on rig up a manual choke, I have a 32 mm pumper carb that comes with an electric choke just the same as the one that is stock. Just a thought.

How much for the carburetor?
Will it increase performance?
Will I need a new intake manifold and air cleaner to increase performance?

Thanks.

The carbs with cables in from the top are used in dirt bikes mostly and the carbs with the cable on the side are used for ATV's mostly if that helps.
