Hi. I'm in the market for an offroad kart for my kids. I've been looking at the 110 and 125cc karts. I'm trying to choose one that my 8 yr old can drive. This is a starter kart, but I want one with enough power that she can stick with for awhile.

I found a local dealer that sells import karts. He carries the NST brand. The supposed manufacturer of record is NST. But, does NST actually make their own karts or is it a SUNL, roketa, kinroad or something else?

The color is red, but one that looks just like it is this NST GK-125K Kart from TJ Motorsports at http://www.tjsmotorsports.com/Page3.html. You'll need to scroll down to that 125 kart.

I contacted TJ Motorsports and they also said the manufacturer of record is NST.

My concern is future parts availability. I like the idea of reverse, and I am looking for a two seater kart with a little bit of ground clearance, and want one that will work for ages 8-12. it's a bonus if it will fit an adult.

Price is important. I have no idea how much or how long they will use it. I have watched for quality used go karts and have stumbled across some manco's, but they are either too big for an 8 yr old (can't reach the pedals) or if smaller, they don't have much clearance and are not a suspension kart. the kids will be just running around the back yard and some natural acreage area, I just thought an off road kart as a result would be best.

I welcome any information someone can provide on NST. The kart local I found is $999. They dealer said he'd also throw in a child's helmet and 90 days parts warranty.

Thanks!

That is a Kinroad kart. However it is a 110cc.
You DO NOT want the Kinroad GK-125K or NST (which is New Star Technologies) that has the rack that is built on the swingarm. Kinroad had major problems with the swingarm breaking on these and moved the rack to the upper frame. What you want is the model that has the rack built to the frame and not the swingarm. Also you want the model that has the improved muffler with the flex joint that does not break.

Thanks for the great info! I looked more closely at the pic on the TJ Motorsports site and it does look slightly different...the back bars extend to the back side of the rack on the kart. I did some searching around for gk-125 karts to see what I could come up with and this one looks like what I am seeing with regards to the back rack design. It says NST on the side of it though.

The site I just provided a link to indicates that their version of the GK125 is a roketa kart.

Perhaps it would help if I also mentioned that this kart was a 3 speed trans with a clutchless shift.

I didn't see any markings on the engine so I don't know what brand it is, although some other karts in different engine sizes had loncin engines.

I hope this helps determine what kind of kart it is, and then the question is whether it is decent or not. I've heard enough bad press on SUNL to avoid it I'm just trying to figure out what this kart really is and whether parts are going to be an issue or not.

thanks again!

I will go back by the dealer tomorrow and take a closer look. I went to the roketa site and don't see a 125. I only see a 110, but this is what I recall it looking like, except I don't recall the mirrors.

I don't know if it is really a 110 or 125. when I looked at the engine last time I don't recall seeing a displacement anywhere. I'll take a closer look.

thanks

I held off on buying this one because I suspect it is a roketa or sunl kart. Is that your assumption too after seeing those updated link references to the kart?

I appreciate the help on this. Still trying to figure out what kart to purchase for the kids. would love to have reverse on it and would love it to be for appox ages 6-12. I don't know if 90cc is enough or if I should go 110cc or 125cc.

I've seen the blade 110cc kart for about $1500. Was hoping to spend a bit less for a kids kart...closer to $1000.

thanks again for all the help!

That's a Roketa (Zhejiang Feida) with 30 day parts only warranty. DO NOT BUY any kart with a 30 day only warranty.

Roketa, Goldenvale, and Terminator are all the same company.
And they have a dismal BBB record.
