Took my son out today, riding his Blade 110, second time its been out, first time its been out for an extended period of time.

We rode almost non stop for 2 1/2-3 hrs when the engine started showing some blue smoke, so I shut it down. I checked the oil which was full but the engine was extremely hot. I know these are air cooled so could it just need to cool down? Is it possible he go mud stuck somewhere preventing it from cooling properly? Is it possible it got too hot because he stayed in 1st gear too long? I seem to remember Blade telling me that running in 1st only was not a problem while my son was learning. I brought it home and cleaned all the mud off, have not tried to start it up yet. I plan to change the oil tomorrow and run it to see how it goes, is there anything else I should check for?

2 hours is a long time, so i wouldnt be suprised, my cvt case will be nuke warm after an hour. If your worried, put a decent size cooling fan back there and it should help things alot. Of course getting cooler air into the motor wouldnt hurt either

Well I drained the oil, it was all there but very burnt smelling. Filled it up and everything seems fine. Anything else I should be worried about or just be aware to take some long breaks and let the engine cool? I am betting that the synthetic oil I had in saved the engine...

Remember the 90cc and 110cc use the motor oil to cool and lube the transmission to. So if you drive it in low gear alot you should use a good high end oil IE: Lucas,Royal Purple etc These oils are made to out last regular oil..

So for the 110 is there also gear oil or any other fluid I should change regularly or just the oil? I am using Castrol Syntec, is that ok or should I switch next change.

the engine oil is as the gear oil, so like Painkiller said use a good ie oil like the lucas or royal purple. 1rst gear for 2 hours the engine turns higher rpm and there for builds more heat.

for extended riding try secound gear and just adjust the throttle so it wont get full throttle and lower the rpms

Sorry just want to be clear (because the manual is not).

The only fluid I have to change is the oil? In the manual it shows to replace "machine oil" and "changing gear box", is this one in the same or are there two different things I need to change?
