I do not think the gears will need to be changed, it is a linkage issue.

Joyner's 1600 has the same issue, they just came up with a different solution...although Jeff (redyfz450) still thought it was clumsey and would take some getting used to.

If you get a chance to look at the Joyner 1600 linkage set up, you might get some ideas.

good luck

Chris

I haven't seen any of these buggies up close. From what I gather from the little I've read, it seems to be a dual cable (pull-pull??) system connected to the tranny linkage. Hopefully it's something that can be fixed by reversing the cables and maybe modifying the linkage somehow. Some detailed photos of the Joyner setup would be great if anyone has some.

F-16gut,
You might try to get with Leenanj and look at his 1100 Joyner shifter....I think he's close to your area...

OK, I have a couple hours run time on the 1100 now and I gotta say, "WOW" Shocked , this thing is quick and I can't rev that hard yet.....

Shocks: I'll give them a "B"...Only because they aren't Elkas.. Wink

Tires: I'll say "C" only because they work good but I don't know how they'll hold-up...I am planning to change the rears ASAP...I'd like taller ones to look better on this buggy....

Exhaust: "?" It comes with a straight pipe... I added a super trapp type of muffler/spark arrestor and dig the more mellow tone...It still gets some "crackling" on decelleration.. Very Happy

This buggy soaks up some good bumps...The woops have to work pretty hard to upset it and even then it gives you plenty of warning that it's getting ruff....

I like the anount of enclosure this buggy affords the driver and passenger...Helps to minimize the debris getting thrown into the cab by the tires....

I'm happy with this buggy and am looking forward to personalizing it with gauges, Crow belts (done), tires, etc....

I've been doing some research on the shift pattern problem. I don't know what the internal differences are between the Joyner and LJ Tech transmissions, if any, but there was a difference in the stick-shift assemblies. On the Joyner shifter, the linkage for one of the cables is on the left, versus on the right for the LJ Tech. That would effectively reverse it's function. The second cable is attached to a point at the bottom of the stickshift itself on both shifters, so that would remain the same. The Joyner stickshift assembly is about $70. I'm curious to see if that would fix the problem, but I don't want to fork out that kind of money to experiment. I guess the other option would be to buy longer cables and turn the whole stock shifter assemble around to reverse it's function, but I don't want cable routed all over the floorboard. Anyone want to send me a free Joyner shifter assembly??? Think

Well, we just threw away the screen that was on the rear of the 1100 and added a cross bar about mid-height and two down bars between it and the bottom bar...Looks alot nicer...Discarded directionals ... Added some good Gates hoses and am ordering a 2 stage Uni filter for it.....

The CV's are "cranky" and I'm going with the VW fix...

Sean needs to be thanked also, he sent me a part that went bad, probably by my fault....Even long after my delivery...He is truely a customers friend with the big buggies...

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow...too late tonight...

Yep, I'm difinitely going for the VW axles, too. I like the idea of being able to change the axle or CV in just a few minutes if I have to (even in the field, for that matter). I agree, Sean has been in touch since day one, and has sent out e-mail product updates to keep things running smoothly.
What Uni Filter did you get? Is it one of the universal fit "pod" filters? That intake has to be restrictive. I got my exhaust, so a new filter is next on the list. I like how the new exhaust sounds; much more mellow, but still sounds sweet. I try not to weewee off fellow campers if I can help it. Cool

I ordered this:(universal type w/2" ID)

1 UP-6200ST TWO-STAGE POD FILTERS
1 UFM-400 AIR FILTER SERVICE KIT

from atvoutfitters.net

Don't know if they're the best price but do know Matthew is great to deal with....

Kurt, I think you made a great choice,
| I stopped by Seans shop on my race vacation and test drove the 1100. I know for fact , I have a well tuned 800 and the stock 1100 was not in the same league. The 1100 was wicked fast. I am glad I am in a thick forested area or I would be bummed. Where I am, I have plenty of power. The backwards gearshift was a bit different, but not that hard to get used to. I was very surprised at the torque and power and how quiet it was. Anybody want to buy a nice 800 for $6,000.00?
