There has been a lot of discussion about welders and how-to lately. I thought it was due time to put together a list of places to get about all the info that one would need on welders. Great info, I bought a 110v Lincoln welder at Home Depot a couple of years ago. I basically suck at welding, I don't even trust my welds they look so crappy. And I really get mad when I blow a hole through the material I'm welding.
I'm going to read some of this stuff.

Ditto that, Jim. I got a Hobart 180 mig and my welding still sucks. I made some real pretty welds at work but had one of the guys there set the welder up for me. So I have a little technique, but no knowledge on settings
I'm gonna watch the videos, bring home some dumpster scrap and try to do better then "puddle and grind"! _________________ _________________

I have found that it just takes a little while to find what the best heat setting is vs the feed for each material. I have even found that lowering the gas output to about 12PSI on the hose side makes a major difference. It is definitely a skill as well as a feel thing. It is pretty easy to lay down a nice weld on flat surfaces and even long radius tubing it is just those small 1.5 and smaller tubes that are a pain in the butt. _________________ Randy

Really arbuilder, i actually run my gas up around 25 in the garage...what wire diameter are you guys using, i use .023 and i crank it up on light wall tubing....the key is "bacon" if it sounds like bacon frying your good.... _________________ Desert Trail And Sand Fabricators
and not to cause a roar, but its actually cubic inch per minute, not psi....
Just kiddin.. Definetly sounds like bacon fryin. I used to run mine at 20 but it was not getting enough heat for some reason. I turned it down and wham it penetrates great. I use the lincoln super Arch .030 wire. _________________ Randy
