Newbie seeking advice on first time purchase

hello all,
I guess I should dtart with what I will be doing. Most use of the kart will be going to and from a summer home to the beach ( about a 1/2 mile trip ) and also logging roads (if I can get it approved ). The four that I have been looking at most have been: adventure blazer, blade, twister's hammerhead, and carter's interceptor. I have not yet decided on going with a 150cc or 250cc, I am not looking for a lot of speed, but I would like to be able to pull some hills at the beach and don't know if the 150cc can handle it. looking forward to your advice and experiences.

I've had good luck w/ the 250 adventure blazer. Only mods are lighter rollers and a K&N air filter inside the stock airbox and a larger carb jet. Built like a tank and pulls hills well. I'm fixin to replace the roll cage though. I'm about 5'10" and keep banging my head on the "hamster wheel". Going to square it off and raise it a little. No experience with the others you mentioned but from what I've read here they all would be a good choice.

Well if you want to pull some hills maybe get a 250cc but gear it down with a 37 tooth or something i would think it would be able to tackle the hills very well but you will only have a top speed of about 30-35mph.

...unless you get a 250 shaft drive and then the final gear is in the gearcase so it's a bit more complicated.

Ya know if you are looking at getting it registered as an ATV I am told that the Carter GTR250 is going to be titled and you can register them. As far as power there is no other buggy that has 20HP in the 250cc class. Some of the gigantic peirspeed 250's say theirs have 21 but that is not proven and the weight to power ratio is aweful. Either the Carter GTR250, Twister HH250 or the Blade XT250 would be my choices.

Definitely check the reviews. Blade, I believe, is just releasing the new 250XT and it looks hot. The GTR is also a good choice, but expensive, wait for the reviews on it and see if it is worth the $. There are definitely reviews on the HH250.

I really didn't like the Blade XT250 when it was released. But now with all the upgrades it's really starting to look like a great machine. The pics Stu posted of the 3rd gen. are awesome, I love the rims as well as all the other upgrades they have made to improve the buggy. It's nice to see a company continually improve their product. Plus the customer support from Blade is top notch. So definately add the XT250 to your list of buggies to check out.

Of course Twister and Carter make great machines to. I love my Twister 150. It's a tough decision picking a buggy that is just right for you.

I am a Carter dealer so naturally I like the Carters. But setting aside that built in bias, the Carter comes with one thing that no other buggy has or will have. The SYM 20HP 4valve head motor. The Carter 250 is more expensive that most, but if you factor in not spending a pile of time and money on performance parts like most do, it will run you about the same money. Besides that, even in stock form it will probably walk away from most other modified 250 buggies and still not void the 2 year factory warranty. I would be thinking the same way if I wasnt a Carter dealer.
