Brett
If you are trying to get an alternator that will power the lights and other 12 volt items without getting the dimming problem while it is at idle then go to a lawnmower repair shop and ask them for a larger output alternator for that engine and replace the one that is on it now. I have never heard of putting a car alternator on an industrial engine. You could do it but it will require a seperate pulley on the crank shaft right or left depending on how you set it up. you then would need to make a bracket up to hold the alternator and be sure it is adjustable. I think the idea of just changing the current alt to a more powerful one is the way to go. _________________ Randy

I'm with Areblder on this one. It'll be much simpler and probably cheaper to upgrade using OEM parts. Check with a local mower shop they should be able to hook you up. Besides a typical automotive alternator requires 2 to 5 horse power depending on load. That wouldn't leave much to power the kart. _________________ 05 150Sahara,10grrollers,1500 spring,redneck/ UNI,Talonaluminumexhaustmoddedby painkiller,130jet,HondaCDI&coil. best time at dirt drags to date 7.231 sponsored by Fox Auto Electric,Copes Country Store,Sign Werks & Interstate Batteries of Somerset.
