Thanks Jeff , I suspected it may be an earlier engine design. I ruled out the NH family of scooters (2 stroke). I'm not sure how far back our online parts listings go but we've been in buisiness since the 68. Most likely the parts fiche is here somewhere, It's just a matter of finding it.

No prob. I would like to read one of those HAYNES books on the gy6 powered scooters, it might have some good info. Keep us posted on your findings.

Jeff

I don't know if this helps any at all but I will link it to the site. Tomberlin uses a GY6 on the crossfire. Although they say it is the owner's design and call it a HOWHIT it is still a GY6. The howhit comes from Howard and Whitney which are his kids by the way.

Anyway they have a sevice manual in pdf on the website that give all the goodies. Valve clearance, tolerance for the cylinder, bearings even cvt belt wear. Some of it may not be compatable but I would think most of it would be. I hope it helps.

Who's kids? Tomberlin is the last, not the first company to use the Howhit-labeled 150cc.

Tom Berlin's kids. I beleive that is his name. The guy that owns TPG anyway. This is the story I have got from two different people. One of them was the rep from Tomberlin. Yerfdog was using the engine with some agreement with tomberlin.

May all be B.S. They still have a very good product as far as I am concerned and more info on the web site than any of the rest as far as up keep goes.

I thought that I heard that one of the principles broke away from yerf shortly before or after their demise and started the new company Tomberlin. That could be BS... but sounds plausible. There are a lot of similarities between the old GX and the tomberlin/dune line of buggys.

Yerdog = Godfrey backwards (inventor???)
Tomberlin = Tom Berlin
Howhit = HOward and WHITney

I'm inclined to believe NONE of it Laughing

I was incorrect on the name Tom Berlin. The owner is Mike Tomberlin see the post in Buggy Banter.

It is a pretty good article.
