Joyner 650cc Sand Spider

This is a preview of the Joyner 650cc Sand Spider. I was a representative for this machine in 2005 for a short while. Although I never got a look at them then, I did have tons of information. Today, however, I finally got to look up close and touch the beast. First impressions, absolutely 'beautiful'. I had imagined them to be big. You know the kind that would not fit on a trial, but to my suprise, it was not big at all. Sure, it was larger than the 150cc and such, but it was more comfortable. Both by wife and myself sat 'very' comfortably in it. We could have touched shoulders easily, if we would have leaned in just a bit, but overal comfort was great. Seats were fully bolstered. Unlike the 150cc double wth the middles cut out. Felt like leather, with the Joyner name embroidered. Classy.... The instrument cluster was small, but effective. Are you really gonna be staring at the guages when you're booking down the trail at 35+ MPH? I didnt think so. The foot pedals were not like any other automobile. They were a bit off centered. But, it was not too uncomfortable at all. This model was a purple powder coat. There were some scratches from shipping, but overall, very nice fit and finish. Chrome rims and nice knobby tires, really set it off.

The engine is a 2 cylinder with a 4 speed/reverse transmission. Rated horsepower is 35, but there has been speculation of the actual wheel to ground HP being around 20. Top speed is reported at 50-55 MPH. Actual speeds will propbably be less. Especially in this area here in East Tenn. Also, this unit can be equipped with optional turbo charging. This is said to boost the HP to 50. And top speeds to 60-70MPH. Again, your speeds will probably be different. Below are the specs from the importer:

I stopped by Thunder motorsports' place in Phoenix today and i also was impressed. large retail showroom. tires, wheels, helmets, riding gear, mod kits...very thing you might see at a honda dealer, but more buggy related. The ladies working the office were very nice, and helpful. and the employee in the shop was helpful also.
They had a dozen models/buggies to choose from all looking really sharp. Several options were available and visible on the buggies. I also liked the 650cc with an automotive style motor. by isuzu I believe. Lots of chrome and bling bling on all buggies(except the hunters version). for what I am looking for this is a really nice find. i just wish they made a single seater. this would cut down a little bit of wieght. and enable the buggy too be a tad bit narrower. It WAS NOT to wide for my taste. I didn't get to lay my eyes on the 250ccc model, or the infamous lafngas machine. perhaps next week's triip!!!

I have the joyner sand spider and i love it. It is an all around great machine. The power is a little low for the big dunes but it does great in the trails. It says the speed is 50-55 mph. Mine has only different tires and it would do 60 in the desert.
