Can anyone remember what the diameter shim was they used for a 250? I understand they're diff size from the 150's 2-1/4OD.

I thought this was covered somewhere else but I will try again... I first used a piece of 2.25 exhaust tubing frrom a fitting from autozone, I had only seen the 150's reporting on this, so i assumed it would work. well the tubing fit over the shaft, but the spring eventually slide over the thin tubing. next step i bought a piece of two inch conduit from electrical dept and this had the right exterier dim. but would not fit over the shaft, so I cut and spread to fit over shaft. i haven't got the answer your looking for but I think a 2.25 inch inside diameter, with some walls about 3/32 inch thick might be what you need to shoot for, or take off and drag with you. maybe get lucky to get it cut at hardware store

Thanks for the reply. If I missed it elsewhere, I apologize. All I seemed to find was 150 chatter. Anyway, you cut it and it stayed in?

no need to apologize... i couldn't have found it either... Stays on so far. i get stubborn and sometime wnt to finish something insteead of driving 30 miles back into town...so i cut it. My best advise is to takee apart, take to town and get the right one the first time...no gaurentee how my splitting open will last...

I schimmed my 250 a while back. I brought it with me to the auto store. I don't remember the size, but I know I used 2 sizes. I don't remember what those sizes were, but I got one with an OD of X, and the next with an ID of X. That made the wall thicker.

Yes Jabo! I just came back w/ a 2-1/4ID coupler used to join two pieces of 2-1/4OD. And the first shim fits perfectly inside it. Napa was higher than Advance, 2.30 vs 1.88 but I did get one of those full view mirrors from rally. 21" long for $17. Hope to get the new one cut tonight and both installed.

I'm sure that will work just fine.
